************************ "Ready the fire attacks" Guo Si said, chuckling to himself. He was anxious to see the devastation his attacks were about to create.
From behind the barricades and to each flank, flaming projectiles took to the sky! Hundreds of fiery arrows as well as two boulders raced toward the approaching allies aiming to send them home in defeat.
The deadly missiles hissed through the air as the fire fed off of oxygen and reached their peak. Many of them would come down and wreak havoc upon the allies who had previously been hit with a massive fire attack. Some of the arrows would fall harmlessly into the water, but there was always that possibility of a swimmer being hit!
The boat closest to He Jin and Lu Zhi, carrying Zhang Ren's troops, was caught with one of Guo Si's catapult attacks and the boulder crushed into the center of the vessel. Two soldiers were killed instantly, as they were mauled by the rock projectile on impact, but its flames would be more devastating and quickly started to spread about the already sinking ship! Looks like Ren was taking a dip?
The other boulder soared through the air and just missed Xiahou Dun's ship; sending water up onto the soldiers. He was lucky, this time!
From the shoreline, Dong Zhuo's infantry soldiers were enjoying the view with smiles plastered across their faces. It was great to watch the enemy squirm, burn, and drown without lifting a finger! If they could even reach the shore, they would then have to face hundreds of fresh troops under Guo Si.
Behind the barricades, the sound of 400 bows being drawn back could be heard. The sweet symphony of the allied army's demise!Guo Si and his archers are readying another volley! The allies are under heavy attack! Get to the shore and take cover! Possibly some pieces of broken ship or other areas could provide cover? Troops: 400 Militia Swords with Shields (200 each on outer flanks of entire barricade group) 300 Militia Medium Spears (100 blocking each barricade entrance) 400 Militia Archers (100 behind each barricade) 2 Catapults (1 each on the furthest flank of the barricade group) ************************ **New Battle Objectives**
- Live! (+50g to all)
- Keep He Jin alive! (+50g to all)

Gongsun Zan, now boosted with Zhang Jiao's troops, already knew what his plan was. Instead of following the entirety of the Han convoy onto the beach, he ordered his ship slightly up shore, away from the main fighting.
A smart move.
He watched as a few Han vessels lit up, his own being hit by a few arrows which were immediately put out. His ship would land outside of the entire Dong formation, and his men would set up. They'd immediately move, however, towards fighting.
Smartly.
They'd wait just long enough to let the enemy spearmen get entangled and fighting, before they would begin to crash through the rear ranks of the enemy, skewering. Gongsun Zan looked for Guo Si himself, and would challenge him to a joust, if possible.

Now all the morale Wei Yan and Lu Rai had tried to hard to build up was sure to be broke, but if they could just survive this attack then they could make it to the next day. There wasn't time to think of strategy, there wasn't time to even cry out an order. The ship came to a lumbering halt as he beached upon the shore, and that was the end of all thinking.
"Rai! This is glory!" roared Wei Yan as he slapped his friend's shield with his forearm and the two barreled over the side of the ship, followed by all of the troops.
"Shields up! Make a wall! Twin axes, on me. Take cover!" boomed Yan over all the chaos that was sure to coming across the shoreline. The moment the words finished, Lu Rai made his way infront of Yan and raised his shield, soon the remaining 70 shield bearers had a solid shield wall set up infront of Wei Yan and the 5 twin axes.
After the first volley, the men would have little choice but to charge, and Wei Yan liked that choice. The scene played out like a fantasy in his head.
Once the next volley hit, their lines would break and charge the first unit they could see. They had no choice, no time to wait or fail. It was only the hope that Wei Yan could set a good enough example to keep his men in the fighting spirit. Lu Rai would lead the shield units, him being a shield user. While Wei Yan would just become a sight to behold, battle axe in one hand, whatever or whoever he could grab in the other, with his few twin axes at his side.
Lu Rai's only hope was that once within the enemy ranks, the vollies would no longer befall their unit as harshly.

Lu Rai and the shield units make a shield wall, while Wei Yan and his few twin axes take cover behind them. Afterwards they break off and wreak havoc.

Liao Xiuxu was relieved to have found Zhang Jiao, and had followed his companion Gong Ce onto Zan's ship. After asking about who the man was that's name was Gongsun Zan, she went to see him and thank him for the saving and safely arrive at the enemy shores.
Her clothes were almost dry now, because she felt warm of the fires and battle situation. She bowed to Zan before looking him in the eyes. Really, did she needed to talk? She hoped he understood, and after standing still a while she went to look for Gong Ce. That guy would surely see Zhang Jiao again.
"Will we be waiting for your master here, or help with the fighting?" She asked, something someone would not understand with body language.

"Be calm, a miss is a miss no matter how close and were practically at shore."
After finally landing Xiahou Dun's men had the luxuary to unload at a slow rate. But they didn't have the nerve to with there allies taking the enemy head on. Once the horses were off and every one had there spear and sheild they mounted up and were heading right for the enemy garrison.
He was lucky enough that having landed south his horsemen could get up to a charge's speed heading into the flanks of the encampment. There first objective was to take out the Sword and Sheild milita on the flank, right in front of the source of there very near call.
The horses stampedeing over enemy swordsmen, the longer spears of his troops should provide the range from horse back that there swords could not make up, and of corse they had fallen into a wedge formation to split through the enemy formation. This was in an attempt to run down and through this first unit and head for the archer units behind the baracades that could cause more devistation to the allied fleet.
Xiahou Dun landed to there right flank and has come and crashed into the milita swordsmen with his veteren horsemen

Ji-Huang Liang and his vessels were safely out of reach at the time of Guo Si's volley, waiting silently away from the battle for orders from their Commander. He stood, in front of his horse, in silence, his head tilted slightly as he watched the Allies be assaulted. Still, he had not chosen a side to join, not just yet. But now...Now would be the time for decision. He would unleash a volley of his own on the enemy troops.
"...It is time. ...On this day my legacy and all of yours shall be known throughout the lands young warriors. ....It is time for the Dragon Strategist...to Join the fight. Let us live this day as if it was our last men! For China! For Our Legacy! For History! For our Family and our Brothership! This is our time to shine!"
He drew his sword, pointing it towards the enemy lines, as their vessels began towards the battlefield, moving just within range of Guo Si.
"Archers! Ready?!" He held his sword up in the air, waiting a moment, and then cutting an arc through the air towards the enemy lines. "FIRE!"
The Archers aboard the ships draw back their bows and unleash a volley of many arrows, aimed right for Guo Si's defensive line. How many will fall to the assault? As soon as the archers fire, his swordsmen step up in front of the archers, holding their shields and waiting for return fire, planning on doing their best to cover their ranged comrades. The horsemen on his vessels proceed under whatever cover they can take from return fire as the Vessels approach the shore from the outside line, aiming to keep themselves within enough range to keep them from sinking if their boats take damage, but not land on the Shores just yet.

Having seen to the well-being of Qu Yi and his men, Zhang He stood at the prow of his vessel and watched as the first volley of fire arrows shower down upon the allies ahead of them. It seemed the enemy had prepared their side of the banks well. He glanced nervously at the wreck that was Zhang Ren's ship and considered his options. Wei Yan was charging blindly ahead; although this may not be the smartest choice, it would draw the enemy's attention. In the meantime, someone needed to assist Zhang Ren. Junyi turned and looked aft; the lady from before was a short distance behind Junyi's ship. He waved nonchalantly, then pointed toward Zhang Ren's ship. He didn't know if the gesture would be spotted, but if it wasn't, its meaning would soon become apparent.
"Gentlemen," he called out in a singsong voice, "I do believe our ally is in a less-than-beautiful situation. Run out the oars." The men gave an assenting "Hut!" and in short order the ship was again sporting the butterfly-shaped oars from earlier. As Junyi cheered them on, the men rowed, causing the ship to lurch forward quickly toward Zhang Ren's vessel.
"Oh my, it looks like you could use a lift." Junyi called out to Zhang Ren as their ships neared each other. "You should try to get on quickly, unless you feel the urge to take an ungraceful dive." As he said this, he signaled to his men to begin rowing for the shore as soon as Zhang Ren and his men got on.
- Zhang He moves to rescue Zhang Ren and his men from his ship.
- To Guo Si: Pay no attention to the man behind the butterfly sail!

********************************* The sky lit up again as fire arrows rained down upon the allied fleet while they approached the enemy shore. It was déjà vu for many who had experienced the night raid last night and similar results as well. Soldiers upon He Jin’s boat were hit and set ablaze along with parts of the ship. Luckily they had made it to shore and the Grand Commander would thank his old veteran when the battle was over. “Forward men! Make for the beach and form up!” Jin yelled, waiving his sword toward the enemy. Many of the soldiers were already shook by the explosion of Zhang Ren’s ship as the flaming boulder ripped into it. They could hear the screams of the wounded as they splashed around in the river. He Jin’s remaining veterans, now standing about 500 strong, jumped over the ship’s bow and were moving forward when the next volley came upon them! “Get down!” the Commander called out, but it was too late. Arrows ripped into the allied unit as they had just landed on the ground. “Gah! Why.. Did.... I.... Not.... Join... The... Sewing Club?” the soldier exclaimed, thinking back to when he thought fighting was cool when people like Zhang He were becoming great warriors with every custom embroidered piece of clothing. Actually, he was also into sail making if anyone was interested…..PM him for your order. Anyway, it seemed some of the allies had already landed and walked the path of glory, honor, and death? The indomitable Wei Yan and his men rushed the enemy beach, stopping multiple volleys with great defensive maneuvering. However, they were running directly into the tiger’s mouth! Xiahou Dun, thinking it wise to avoid a head on assault, had landed to the south/east with some cavalry. The problem was…..well, it would soon unfold like a evil little pop up book of destruction read by a Zombie Mr Rogers! When the soldiers looked back, from the beach with their shield up, they were shocked. If morale was not bottomed out already, it would be as He Jin was laying upon the watery beach, wounded. An arrow protruded from the Grand Commander’s shoulder and he was reeling around in pain on the ground. Soldiers moved to help him up and move him to safety behind the shield wall. Other veterans moved to pick up large pieces of Zhang Ren’s boat that was now washing ashore. “We…..must….win the day” the leader said while being carried forward. Hopefully Lu Zhi could take up the rear and protect his lord. As the men formed up along the beach, another catapult attack was launched. The projectile hit near to He Jin and his men, killing some of them as it crashed down and ripped them apart. The Commander was not hit, but morale kept plummeting. He Jin has been struck by an arrow and is injured! The veterans take many casualties as they arrive on the shore, but they take up a shield wall formation as well as grabbing large pieces of wood to deflect arrows! The Militia Halberds and Spears are unloading from He Jin's boat but also from one to its left.********************************* Troops: 500 Veterans Swords with Shields 600 Militia Halberdiers 400 Ruffian Medium Spears

Eyes that were as golden as the sun looked out over the fast-approaching shore, then flicked over to the allied boats. Her restlessness didn't last too long, for soon the Arrows began to rain down on their fleet. The lady Officer's boat was near the back, so they suffered little damage. The worst was He Jin's ship, it seemed, and as thougt began to swirl around in the woman's mind, Zhang He took it upon himself to go rescue the sinking boats. And even though Xifeng was ready to fight, the woman ordered her boat after the man. After all, she had said she would fight for him.
As her boat drew closer, The Beautiful Devil stood at the front of the ship, giving those in need a slight wave of one hand. After a moment, her hands returned to being folded beehind her back, and she raised one eyebrow as she watched the Allied General and his men, her second taking some initative now that his leader has suddenly become frosty.
"Alright men! Let's give these people a hand!" Xifeng Yue Follows Zheng He's lead and also attempts a rescue, despite being ready to go to battle!

Green banners blew hard in the Wind as Zhang Fei's Ship sailed suicidaly towards the Shoreline.Fei had not intention of 'departing' his ship,he let his men know that.
"Faster! We're gonna hit the beaches hard and fast! When the boat lands, follow me and stay close! Hraaaahhh!"
With a loud sliding thud,Fei's Ship slammed onto the beach and slid a ways onto it.The Warrior from Yan reared his horse and galloped towards the front of the deck.
Fei's horse jumped from the edge of the ship and hit the sand hard. His cavalry and new swordsmen charged after him, shouting war crys of their own.
Sand flew everywhere and Zhang Fei charged up the beaches.Arrows whizzed by as Fei's thrust his spear at one of Dong Zhuo's Soldier, catching him in the throat...
Zhang Fei lands on the center beaches! He charges wildly at the enemy lines!

My Ship Was Cursed
Zhang Ren was busy issuing orders to a couple of his lieutenants when arrows began to fall all around them. The axemen began to throw up their shields in an effort to avoid being hit. Most succeeded in being protected, but still some fell.
As Ren turned to see just what was shooting at him a boulder began to fall straight at him. Zhang barely managed to jump out of the way, but his two unfortunate lieutenants managed to get drug under the ship by the boulder.
"BLOODY HELL! WHY ME?!?! WHY CAN'T MY SHIP JUST MAKE IT TO THE DAMN SHORE?!?!" As Ren was having a small temper tantrum, on of his men interrupted him to say that an allied vessel, captained by one Zhang He, had come to assist.
"General He, I thank you for the aid. Quickly men, get aboard now, take as many of the injured with you as you can." Ren began to help up one former Dong troop who had had an arrow in his stomach, and looking at the arrow it turned out to be one of Ren's own. He quickly shifted the arrows so they weren't quite so visible. Ren handed the troops over to one of Zhang He's troops, and went back to gather some more.
As Ren's men finished getting the injured over, Ren and a few of his axemen barely had time to jump and grab the railing of Zhang He's ship, since theirs was now considerably lower to the water than He's. Ren happened to land right by Zhang He. "Hey, General, mind helping me up?"

Junyi sighed, then offered a clawed hand to Zhang Ren. Upon reflecting for a moment, he withdrew the armed arm and had a nearby sailor pull Zhang Ren on deck while Junyi carefully wrapped his still-broken nail in a bandage borrowed from the crowd of field durgeons still surrounding Q Yi. Having rescued the majority of Zhang Ren's men from the water alongside Xifeng, Zhang He scanned the coastline and noticed an opening in the east. There were no allies there as of yet, and if someone didn't head there soon, the forces on the beach risked getting flanked.
“Welcome to my vessel, general. I apologize, I’ve been having some…renovation done.” Junyi said nonchalantly, eying the wreckage littering the deck, “Now then, we’re about to disembark on that conveniently empty shoreline.” Junyi indicated the spot with his claw, then skipped nimbly to the edge of his boat and called out to Xifeng.
"My lady, I spot a most beautiful opening on the eastern shore. I suggest we make our stand there." He turned and gave the order to move out, then called back, "If you don't mind, I would feel slightly more comfortable knowing the name of a lady I'm to fight alongside."
- Zhang He moves toward the eastern shore, Zhang Ren in tow.

********************************* The allies were either very brave or extremely stupid. Guo Si contemplated that thought, to himself, as a few of the enemy officers had begun the march forward. Looking to the shore ahead, Guo Si noticed the Imperial standard of He Jin fall to the ground and the Zhou soldiers rallied when he raised his weapon. The sounds of swords banging against shields could be heard as background music while rebel soldiers sang of the ally’s imminent defeat. “Release another volley!” the general exclaimed, after the men had settled down. The arrows were sent toward He Jin, Wei Yan, Zhang Fei and Ji-Huang Liang. Hundreds of projectiles soared through the air and finally came down upon said officers with deadly precision. Following the volley, Si ordered 80 spears off to attack the weakened unit of Wei Yan; leaving 20 to guard one pinch point. His other set of spears were also set forth, but this time against Zhang Fei and another 80, now 160 rebel spears, were engaging the attackers! “Now, kill that fool! He does not deserve to walk upon this glorious side of the river, controlled by the mighty emperor himself!”The rebels would send the allies back, to where they came, and only sheer bravery and skill would lead them from certain doom. Enemy spearmen rushed forward to engage Yan and both lines collided! Spears were thrusted forward and the blood began to flow! To the allied right flank, the sneaky Xiahou Dun had made his way south along the river; east of the allied main front. The problem with his dashing move was that Li Ru, Dong Zhuo’s mastermind, had foreseen some attempting to avoid the strong defensive position of Guo Si. However, the allies would find out too late that their earlier suspicions of Ru’s wile would prove true! Dun, in his haste to cut down the enemies, did not worry too much for what was below rather than ahead. The ground caved from under him and his unit was caught in a PIT TRAP!! Horses and their riders fell to their deaths and hopefully Xiahou Dun was not in the direct path of it. If so, someone needed to get a rope and a medical kit; asap. The catapults were ready to launch, yet again, and Zhuo troops cheered when the boulders were let go. They were aimed at Zhang He and Xifeng Yue who had just landed. As if the situation could not have been any worse, from the rear of Guo Si’s army came more enemy soldiers! This group, however, was led by none other than the dreaded Niu Fu! The man was now as famous, if not more so, than even Lu Bu. AND, as powerful too! Well, at least he thought so. “Liu Pi, look at these morons! They have come probably seeking the greatest glory to be had in battle and that is to face me!” Fu said, looking back to his new comrade. “The emperor has offered a hefty price for our target, so don’t f*ck it up!”The reinforcements moved to bolster the center and flanks in case the allies ever managed to get around, which was highly unlikely. 300 Militia archers splits and moved to each front; east, west, center. 200 Militia Mace and Shield moved to each flank and 300 stayed with Niu Fu behind Guo Si. Guo Si orders a volley against multiple officers! Catapults fire again dwindling allied morale and hope at victory! Xiahou Dun is caught in a Li Ru pit trap and takes casualties! ********************************* Guo Si400 Militia Swords with Shields 300 Militia Medium Spears 400 Militia Archers 2 Catapults Niu Fu Arrives!500 Militia Mace and Shield 300 Militia Archers

Post by Sun Yuan Ci on Jul 11, 2008 1:51:25 GMT -5
*With each age, at its dawn or its dusk, or at any point between, there is a defining moment. There is a time when the bravado of man and woman stands above the mere probability that eludes hope as if to create an ideal that is nothing more then a dream so far out of reach. There is a time when the courage within the hearts of armies is tested, and the might within their blades is tried. These times are few and far between, but when they arrive, it is clear. It is clear that though armies may be led by generals who were born to glory and wealth, and soldiers numbering in ranks of thousands fight to sway the tides of war, it is clear that any given person with a mindset with a just cause and a blade can turn any tide. A feat worthy of praise this could be, and available now was just that.*
*Sun Yuan Ci rode ahead, mounted atop a valiant steed. He was flanked by his cousin, Sun Liao, and then by hundreds upon hundreds of soldiers who rallied around him. The time had come. He had spent the night before meeting his cousin for the first time in his life, where they then shared their views and expressions of the land and what they could make of it. Now, at the crimson shoreline of despair, the first step upon the path so elegantly spoken by Zhiyun would be taken. The first step, the most important step, was to sever Guo Si’s presence barricading the shoreline, rescue the many allied generals who so greatly needed assistance, and to discover Dong Zhuo. Nothing about this struck fear into Zhiyun’s heart. He spent his life awaiting this one moment, and the preceding days made it so much easier to confront.*
*There was nothing to fear about Dong Zhuo anymore. While once, Sun Yuan Ci had believed his purpose to be folly, and that he was marching to a disastrous fate that would leave effort in vain, he had met a man that dispelled such thoughts from his mind. Zhiyun rode to war with an aura of vigilance and bravery, thanks to his wise preacher who greeted him at Pu Yang. There was a time that Yuan Ci thought of himself as nothing more then a soldier seeking a cause. His preacher showed him his cause, and taught him the means to perform every feat required to reach his goals. Though he met the man briefly, spoke to him shortly, his life had changed immediately. Shortly after, he met his cousin, and he rallied an army of knights and warriors rather then men-at-arms.*
*With each trot of his mighty stallion, the surreal euphoria of this upcoming event of Zhiyun’s life had him riding a high he’d never felt before. His eyes lost sight, but he could feel his environment around him. It felt as if he was sitting amongst the clouds, speeding across the skies to a beautiful constellation of stars. As he snapped out, he gripped the Crescent Spear, lifting it high over the air as he rode over an over cropping. As he reached the top of it, he could see down across the battlefield. The horizon was scattered with turmoil. A river had been foiled by warships, which now landed upon a shoreline barricaded with soldiers. Zhiyun looked down, wiping any emotion off his face and preparing an approach.*
“My men… my friends, look down before you and speak what you see… this is war. This is the scene we shall see, and live, for the next years. Until this view before us is forever gone, we will continue to see it. I curse war with every bit of hate I possess. But it is the only way to obtain peace against a tyrant as Dong Zhuo. You all have come for this reason, and I thank you. If I have been unfair to any of you up to this point, I apologize. Now watch, my friends. Watch as the ring of our spears scatters the ranks of our enemies and the clash of our steeds brings about an end to Dong Zhuo’s reign. So short it has been, yet already too long.”
*Zhiyun looked down to his right hand, where his armored headdress lay in his grasp. He held it up to his gaze, staring the tiger in its eyes. A slight smile stretched across his face, as he brought the headdress up to his forehead, locking it in place over his head, holding his hood in place. The plume of a crane’s feathers fell nearly half way down his back, parallel to the cloak on his left shoulder. He looked up to the Crescent Spear, where the hook of the blade formed a circle around the setting sun. If this was a symbol, then Dong’s men were as grand as the sun, and the blade represented the many soldiers about to charge down on them, slicing their grand stature off to oblivion. It was time.*

Sun Yuan Ci arrives with a large force from the allied west flank, already on the enemy's side of the river[/u][/I]
*From Zhiyun’s view, he could not fully appreciate the sight of his army charging down the cropping hill. He could only see the soldiers of the enemy eastern flank turn and scatter at the sight. He could imagine it was a breath of fresh air for the allies, who were on the brink of destruction. Zhiyun rode ahead himself, leading his battalion of lancers straight ahead. He was the first to make contact with Guo Si’s unit, plunging deep into the ranks of his eastern flank, refusing to stop there. He sped up, and continued straight along Guo Si’s unit, until stopping near the center of the western flank while his lancers sped to keep up. He lifted his shoulders high, swinging the Crescent Spear like a man possessed while flinging soldiers about with each mighty slash. He had fought his way into a circle, surrounded by men fallen by his blade. Briefly, he looked westward to his army, who took advantage of Yuan Ci’s courageous charge and struck the weakened flank hard. Led by soldiers wielding large hammers, they charged in swinging, weakening the remaining defenses while they were then swarmed by numerous soldiers wielding dual swords and hoplites, wielding short spears and shields.*
*Zhiyun turned around, bringing his spear across his body to slash across an approaching horseman’s body and force him from his mount, killing him immediately. He could see many small groups of allied units, but he saw a large group of spearmen working their way toward them. He sped his horse toward his unit, avoiding combat along the way, and approached Sun Liao. *
“Cousin, our allies are in dire need of support. Take these knights and sever their attempt to pry them of their grasp of life.”
*The twin swordsmen broke from combat, and formed around Sun Liao. Meanwhile, Yuan Ci was now met by a returning charge of his lancers, while his hammer soldiers and hoplites fought the lines of enemies not for from his location. He saw an army of reinforcements approaching, thus he spun his horse that way, leading his lancers to halt their advance.*

As the volley of arrows rained down on Liang's ship he watched, and even as they came, a smile lit up on his face. "..Ah...Retailiation....Perfect. Swordsmen! Raise Shields!!"
At the order, his infantry stepped infront of the lines of archers, the archers crouching down as the infantry made a Phalanx-like shield wall in front of the archers doing their best to defend against the volley. Many of the horsemen and horses were fairly safe under the deck of the ship, yet quite a few of the ones on the upper deck fell to multiple arrows that had rained down upon them. Liang crouched behind the shield of one of his infantry, waiting for the rain of arrows to cease, and when it did he simply pointed his sword to the shore. Liang's vessel moved to the eastern coast, landing roughly against the sand.
"Horsemen! Give the Warrior in Blue some assistance! Charge the Eastern Flank! Horsebows swing around to the flanks, Calvalry to the front!"
As Liang shouted out orders, his bowmen and infantry gathered again. Liang would watch this one from the ship...Yes, thats what he would do. After all...Archer Support could not be ignored...
Sen Acare nodded, a smile on his face. Finally, Ji-Huang's Lieutenant would step up to the plate...He would deal with the traitors of the Han, and he would assist Xiahou Dun in any way possible.
"Alright Men! It's our time to Shine! Forward into the fray of battle! Cut down any in your path!!"
Sen Acare, dressed in fairly vain blue and white armor laughed loudly and joyously as he readied his spear and shield atop his horse. "Horsebows on the flanks! Fire at the enemy from the sides! Calvalry go around that Pit Trap of his and aid our Ally!"
