************************** The guards upon the walls of Yun Nan were growing increasingly concerned due to the Shu army amassing outside the city. They thought Liu Bei was a man of honor as well as virtue and many now thought differently of him seeing Guan Yu rallying soldiers for war. Yan Liang was also present and it was clear to the defenders that batte was on Shu's mind. Why would they send two high ranking military generals to discuss diplomacy? Exactly. However, the garrisoned force at Yun Nan was weak and the current governor was aware of that fact. He had no choice but to hear their terms. The gates began to open slowly as guards from the inside pulled them open. Inside, the city seemed quiet. After Zhang Jiao had passed on and left the land to its fate, not many people felt as safe under the new leader. They usually stayed inside to avoid being robbed or raped or both. Truly, Yun Nan was in a deplorable state.

"I am sorry brother... I know you did not wish for us to strike at them without trying to speak with them first... but the recall of Jiang Wei left us with little choice.. I am not a diplomatic man..."
Guan looked down atop his horse. He had seemed as though he hadn't really wanted to attack the city. Knowing his brother and feeling the same as he, war wasn't their choice, but it was necessary at times. Guan sighed, just as he straightened his back and was about to give a command he noticed something odd. The gates of Yun Nan had opened. Guan stood there for a moment, his men ready to charge and awaiting his command.
"My lord?"
"Thank the Heavens... they have no opted for war. Lieutenant. You stay here with Yan liang and assist him in looking after the troops. You men! Come with me."
Guan spoke to a small group of soldiers, ten horsebowmen and ten calvary with spears to be exact and they rode towards the city. Guan ahead, naturally, riding his magnificent Red Hare. He slowed once he approached the gates and he stopped in front of them, the chosen men behind him and a few to his sides.
"Men of Yun Nan. I do not wish to bring war to this city. I thank you for letting me into the city. Would you escort me to the governor?"
Guan said looking into the eyes of one of the guards and stroked his magnificent beard.

“Master Guan Yu, it is an honor to finally meet you and the stories are true of your bravery” one of the guards said, watching the big green robed warrior as he rode into Yun Nan. The man eyed his comrade and unfortunately for the Shu general it was a signal to act. “We have also heard of your lack of caution! Now!!” Above Guan Yu’s head ruffian archers appeared from their hiding positions! They drew back on their bows and sent a volley down into some of Yu’s escort. Inside the city, militia swords had revealed themselves and they were large in number. Guan Yu was now halfway through the gate and vulnerable to being overwhelmed! If that did not get Shu’s attention the smoke cloud from the far side of the city should have. Something was going on there, but it would be unknown to them for now. It seemed there would be a war after all. However, it was not the normal militia of Yun Nan. Remaining Turbans from Zhang Jiao’s army were controlling the city!! ********************** Defending Force: Turban Officer ? 1000 Turban Militia (Sword & Shield) 1015 Turban Militia (Spear) 300 Yun Nan Ruffians (Bowmen) ?

The beast of a man was left outside the city walls, Liang was becoming annoyed that the possible hints of battle were being delayed by stupid diplomacy. Looking at his troops the northern warrior could tell they were feeling the same way, for too long they had not wielded their weapons for the thrine of battle. Making small conversation with his men, the beast didn't notice gradual thicking in the clouds of the city of Yun Nan; it was Cen Pi who noticed this..bad omen. "Erm.. Liang." With a few jabs to the stomach to get Liang's attention, the giant hauled himself around to see what the annoyance was now; hand Guan Yu returned without the need of war? If so, it would be him getting a pounding.
As Yan Liang's eyes came upon the thick smoke coming from within the city, they widened; some what confused. Was that a party?.. Wine? Meat?! Guan Yu would surely get a thrashing if it was true. Hands clenched hard onto the polearm, this was not the greatest day, first no battle and now him being stuck out here to watch them have a banquet. Seeing this anger, Cen Pi thought it wise he explain would in fact could be happening. "Liang, I think the Lord Guan could be in a spot of bother... Not what you're thinking." It took a while for what was happening to fully be understood; an ambush?! It is on now! A smile came onto his lips, Liang was now going to taste the delicious bite of battle once again... Looking at the blade in his hand the beast couldn't help but laugh; it was time. Not turning to his men, Liang hurled the polearm around in an elaborate fashion to signal the units movement; while Cen Pi dodged the blade. "Men! Let us tear these people apart and aid Yu! These people shall regret the day they tried to mess around while Yan Liang was here!!" With a loud shriek, Liang's eyes became that of a demon's; fired and full of the lustful desire for blood. The unit now began to advance towards the gate that Guan Yu had previous entered, though Liang did truely know the man closely he still did not want one of his side to go down; who else would he have for competition on numbers?! Cen Pi?! Pah!. However, Pi was loyally behind him with his pole-axe in hand dying to have it see some action for so many years. The young warrior could tell Liang wasn't going to be very merciful, no remorse.. the blade would cut anyone and thing down who stood in his way. "I feel sorry for those people in Yun Nan, they don't know what they have caused." A gentle whisper from Cen Pi, though the noise from the horses and men hide the words cleverly from Liang. The unit moved quickly, like the deadly waters of a flood coming to eradicate anything that decides to become it's obstacle. The gap between Yu and Liang was now becoming smaller, Liang's unit were charging; all the men thursty to cut down the enemy and claim glory for saving the supposed 'God of War'. When getting closer, Pi noticed men in yellow clothing; the Yellow Turban? He had heard that Zhang Jiao had vanished, so they were still holding out? They should have gone with him, their fate being far worse with Liang than any they could imagine. The polearm raised above his head, Liang was ready to slice at the enemies; the eyes crazed and even one glance within them would bring uncontrollable few to the most hardy of men. As the unit closened to helping Guan Yu, Liang bellowed a ferocious war-cry; shuddering, breaking of spirits and shattering of bones.. A shout so loud that the pillars of the heavens would merely crumble in its wake; it was used for fear and for the men inside to know that Yan Liang, the greatest warriors of the North was here to rain havoc upon their weak bodies. The war-cry of Liang was always recognisable, though too late to do anything for the foes head would be claimed before their senses came into play. The beasts very men began to scream their own war-cry, quite cleverly trying to make out their numbers being bigger than they were to place more fear into the enemy. However, it was hard to act when Yan Liang was hurtling towards them with his weapon raised, eyes of the many courts of hell and only one thing on his mind; death.. Liang got close enough to shout to Guan Yu, his voice roared across the land in between them, as a tiger it tore through the air and caused a serge of fear as its requiem. "Yu! Tear these men apart!! Regrets are too late, their heads shall all belong to the great beast of the North, Yan Liang!!" When Liang's men would meet with Guan Yu's they'd reinforce him to make sure he is safe, the horse-back troops would trample upon the enemy, while they allowed Yan Liang to make mince-meat of the enemies that dared to bring harm onto Guan Yu..- Yan Liang has moved to help/reinforce Guan Yu! - Yang Liang war-cried to place fear into the enemy! - Yan Liang and Cen Pi will start to cut down any enemy that came near them!Troops:500 Ruffians (Halberdiers) 913 Militia (Halberdiers) 600 Ruffians (Horse Spear & Shield) Key:YL - Yan Liang CP - Cen Pi H(r) - Ruffian Halberdiers H(m) - Militia Halberdiers HSp/S - Ruffian Horse Spear & Shields YL / CP

(Hope you don't mind me subtracting those twenty troops. When the ambush happened he only had that many)
Guan Yu had rode mostly into the city, the Red Hare in a gentle pace until Guan heard what the man said. He couldn't have!? He thought to himself as he turned behind him to see his twenty men downed. His eyes filled with fire as he didn't even think to look at the deceitful guards. He had brought his Green Dragon in a swoop across Red Hare's sides and sliced the men from the tip of their heads to the base of their chests. Bringing them the long deserved 'rest.' Not until he pulled his arm back from the swings, did Guan feel something. He had been hit. He had an arrow in his back. It hadn't been too serious for as a true officer was always prepared, Guan had worn his mail under his robes. Guan may have been a rational man, but when angered he could be very hard to deal with... especially when it came to terms of war.
Back with Liang
As the smoke was noticed by Cen Pi, Guan's Lieutenant was able to see it as well. His eyes widened as he had acted before that of even Yan Liang.
"FORWARD! TO OUR LORD'S SIDE!"
The men had roared with excitement. The thought of being able to save their lord and fight alongside him was enough to send their spirits through the roof. How many a day do you get the chance to save one of the greatest warriors in the land? This thought drove them. A few medics had mounted with a few of the horsemen, the scouts as well. They were in the center of the other horsebowmen.
The horsebowmen charged, seeing the archers atop the gate. As they neared, they drew their bows and shot at the archers. They knew that their lord was being harrassed by them and they didn't want him to be worried with them. The horsebowmen had seen more battle than the opposing archers and were much better shots, even on horseback, nearly all of the fired arrows hitting a mark. The calvary spearmen were behind the horsebowmen, though they were slightly weighed down more by their armor.
Guan could hear the roar of Yan Liang and his men, and later Guan's own men could be heard crying to the heavens for their lord's safety. Guan grinned. He knew now that he had to make sure that he didn't let these men down. He was the commander, he wouldn't allow them to be disheartened.
"Green Dragon! Let us give these men their want for battle! Send them to the depths of hell with a smile, knowing that they have received the battle that they wished for!"
Guan said as he turned his head to look at Yan Liang. This man had come to save him, it might have been from his duty as a fellow Shu officer, but it earned him some respect from Guan.
"Yan Liang. Have your fun. BUT, we must abide by our orders. Tell your men, We must not harm the peasants and do not disturb their dwellings."
Guan spoke before nodding his head to his men. They knew that it was time for the battle. His calvary spearman rode through the city. Meeting the swords men with spears and trampling horses. There were also the horsebowmen that shot for both the archers and the spearmen. Little did the men of Yun Nan know, that also marching towards Yun Nan was Guan's personal militia swordsmen, with that of the numbers of at least one thousand. Also, to Guan's surprise there was a medic that moved towards him. As she began to treat his wound, a good twenty horse spearmen had surrounded him and the lady as she treated him.
Guan has been reinforced by Yan Liang and his own troops that were stationed with him. He has also sustained a light wound from the attack of the arrows, the medic has started to treat him. Though injured, Guan has rallied his men, staying on the front lines with them. Guan's horsemen unleash hell upon those that stand in their path.

While Guan Yu and Yan Liang gave battle to Cheng Tong’s sword unit along with his bows, he himself moved around the city with over 1000 spears. Atop the walls, Tong’s archers let fly into Guan Yu’s horsebow unit and cut some of them down. However, the return volley made them pay and a few Turban bows fell over the walls into the city. Peasants below were running in fear, yelling and screaming that if Zhang Jiao were present they would be safe. “The way of the Heavenly Hand died with Jiao, that old fool! The new way is the way of Cheng Tong, the way of War!! We are now the……..Red Turbans!” a soldier said, putting his turban on and tightening it. They were not too smart, so originality was lacking, but they did save a lot of money by just re-dying the clothes!! Inside the city, Guan Yu and Yan Liang fought against Cheng Tong’s swordsmen who were pouring onto the main street like spilling wine across a table. They engulfed the enemy at they were caught in the bottleneck of the entrance. Still, the Shu forces were stronger and the defenders were lacking in leadership. Or, were they? “Now, you villainous scoundrels, Cheng Tong has come to claim victory!” A roar from soldiers racing around the sides of the city echoed out in the surrounding area. The spear unit under Tong had arrived after leaving the rear gate and moved in to flank the Shu army. 500 men came around each corner and moved in to engage!! ***************** Defending Force has Morale at 90%!

"My lord our rear!"
Guan looked the soldier as he had heard new cries for battle coming from the gate. They've moved around the city!?... I had a feeling something like this would happen. Guan sighed as he looked over to his lieutenant that he had appointed to watch over the troops with Yan Liang. The man was smiling. Guan stood confused for a moment and soon his mind eased and he figured what the man was smiling about.
"So they have us covered... It is alright men! Continue to press the attack! Don't let their spearmen distract you!"
Guan yelled out to his troops. They were confused to his words. The horsemen thought their leader crazy for a moment until they saw the banners coming from behind the opposing force. It was the reamainder of Guan's troops. They were stationed in the woods and when the others charged they were left behind due to them not being on horseback.
Guan looked to the medic and she smiled to him nodding. He nodded back to her and smacked his Red Hare on the back and the horse struck out. Its speed was dazzling as it had moved to a safe place. Guan had gripped his Green Dragon dangerously and stood in front of his horsebowmen.
"Unleash another volley. Focus only on the archers! Horsemen! Drive off their infantry! Show them the might of the Shu army!"
Guan spoke as Red Hare began to move towards the sword and shield man, leading the other horsemen. Slowly they picked up speed and avoided any peasant that was in the way.
"Only take down their soldiers!"
Guan shouted to his men as they roared in reply, trampling through the infanty, shoving their spears into the shields on occasion before trampling over the soldiers. Guan was at the front of this attack, not stopping his ride to hit a shield, but allowing the Red Hare to run through the men that stood in its way, and suddenly it jumped over a group, rounding about and heading back towards his previous position.
As Cheng's additional units came through the gates they could hear the heavy pounding of footsteps coming from Guan's infantry, coming up from behind. Before they knew it, the spearmen were also being engaged from behind by Guan's sword and shield units and soon his bowmen, that stood behind the ranks of the sword and shield men, unleashed their arrows into their enemy's ranks.
Now the Cheng spearmen had not only Yan Liang's halberdiers to worry of, but Guan's sword and shield units and bowmen from behind to worry about.
*Guan's wound has been treated by the medic and he has ordered the charge of the calvary. *The horsebowmen continue to fire, though this time focusing all of their fire on the bowmen atop the gate. *Guan's infantry has finally reached the battle from their march, the sword and shield units have engaged Cheng's spearmen from behind, while the bowmen fire atop the gates as well at Cheng's bowmen.

The words Yu barked to Liang were not the ones he wished to hear, avoid peasants? They should be cut down for not trying to convince the elders of Yun Nan to see sense. But, what Yu wants Yu gets. However, Cen Pi had taken the liberty to inform Liang's unit for him in rather a polite manner in a way that would not offend Guan Yu. "Do as the Lord Guan says, leave the towns-folk and eradicate the soldiers!" A quick salute and roars of acknowledgement from the troops the unit carried on hacking away at any enemy that decided to come near them. This small skirmish was becoming too normal, no excitement; just slash here and slice there. As the polearm came crashing down on some poor enemy soldiers Yan Liang was not aware of Cheng Tong's unit that had moved round the city walls to attempt a pincer tactic; perhaps they were unaware of the beasts presence? Yan Liang was not yet fully in the gate, charging that far would mean trampling over the troops of Guan Yu. Once again it was the general Cen Pi to notice the foe advancing towards them, their right and left flanks were going to be attacked. "Liang! Their trying to pincer us!" Liang's ears quickly came to attention and indeed Pi was correct, the enemy was now hurtling towards both sides in an attempt to overwhelm the side flanks... Not while Liang was here! "Horsemen! Protect the right and left, trample them into the ground!!" Not wanting to anger Liang the horsemen did as ordered and soon formed on both sides of the unit and would charge as a counterattack to the attacking forces. The horsement moved to clash with the enemy troops of Cheng Tong, they were not going to let some barbarians get the better of them. Liang was becoming restless, he could see Guan Yu was getting more of the action than he was. "This is stupid... Come at me you fools! Let me tear those weak heads of yours from yout bodies!!" Laughing, it bellowed through the arch of the gateway and echoed into the city; the giant was going to move... His brain not thinking and Cen Pi was odering the rest of the men into formation so they could enter the city, or deal with the enemies coming around the walls if needs be. Suddenly, the beast of a man pulled at the reigns, Liang was going to charge into the city with all the might of the Heavens within his eyes. The firey dwellings of the fire dragon, his mouth beginning to drool at the thought of finally slicing down the enemies. "Who dares oppose the great Yan Liang?! Come at me! Running is no option, death is your only fate!!"Cen Pi finally noticed that his master had charged into the city after the troops inside, Liang was forgetting what Yu said and at some times swung at the peasants who ran for cover. Pi remained with the units just outisde the gate to hold the rear. The unit seemed enthused by Liang's actions and began to shout towards the enemy for them to come at them, their personal morale gradually rising. The beast now within the city, slashing at any who he saw as his enemy, gave out another roar of anger which was also transferred into his actions; the polearm was brought down on the foes head with the strength of Mount Tai. Was it only Cen Pi who noticed that Yan Liang's actions were somewhat careless and reckless, while forgetting the orders of Guan Yu could bring back-lashes after this fiasco... However, Liang was in his element. Inside the city, battle raged on as Guan Yu and Green Dragon were raping the Red Turban army under Cheng Teng. With the aid of his ranged units Yu was doing some damage to the defenders but was also taking casualties. The Turban archers, along the walls, were able to duck and then shoot which made them harder to hit. Arrows rained down into the Shu horsebows wreaking havoc if actually hitting. The ruffian bows were not very skilled, but still a few hundred arrows would hit something. Swordsmen inside the city could tell they were outmatched but they were still large in number. Fighting hard, they tried to push back the invaders. Outside the city, Cheng Teng and his detachment of soldiers had moved around the city and flanked the enemy. Yan Liang, though a war master, had sent horses to deal with Teng's spears and the outcome would not be good. However, good thing for Liang that his comrade would be aided by the remainder of Guan Yu's soldiers which magically appeared from near the forests. "You bastard!" Teng yelled, seeing his men get flanked after doing the flanking. The spears fought on though as they too were great in number. It would take at least an hour long slaughter festival to dwindle their army down to nothing. That is, if they did not break first. ***************** Defending Force has Morale at 80%!

Cen Pi could see that the order of Liang was futile, he knew that his mind did not work on the same level as a tactician, however allowing him to carry out the order would not lead to his head being taken. The recknlessness of the beast was something Pi could not take hold of and instead ignored the actions of his master to control of the main force, on Liang's behalf. "Men! Destory the enemy, work with Lord Guan's men and eradicate them from this land!" The troops began to fight harder, allowing Guan Yu's men to take the mean bulk of the enemy as they seemed far more trained than they.
Pi knew that Liang could not be forgotten to fight on his own, it was too dangerous; even if he was one of the greatest warriors of the North, irrational behaviour like that can leave open opportunities. "Halberds, move into the city and join with Liang!" The lesser of the halberdiers broke off from the unit and moved through the gate to try and meet up with Yan Liang. The main part of the unit continued to fight vigarously with Cheng Tong's men, they were surely determind not to give up the control of this city... however, Cen Pi and Yan Liang were not planning on falling here. "Do not let them gain the upper hand, cut them all down!" The unit pushed harder onto the foe, making sure that they would either surrender, flea or simply die.
Yan Liang remained in the city contently slashing away at the enemy, continuing to forget that Guan Yu ordered him not to harm the peasants; in the dragon's eyes of the beast, they were simply enemies. "Haha! Die the lot of you! Fear the great Yan Liang!" The halberdiers sent by Cen Pi had reached their destination but could not get close to take a defensive stance for Liang. Guan Yu's unit were in the way and the gap was only big enough for Liang to move through, an entire unit? was merely stuck behind their ally. However, it could prove useful to backing up the rear flank of Guan Yu; never knowing what these people had up their sleeves. The northern beast continued to plow his way through the 'fodder', he was glad to be finally in battle. Though tactics were no longer in his mind, with the words of Guan Yu, Liang carried on slashing at the enemy.
- Ruffian (Halberdiers) have moved to the rear flank of Guan Yu! - Yan Liang continued to cut down any who he sees as an enemy in the city! - Cen Pi remains with the main Liang unit to try and crush Cheng Tong's men outside the gate!

The tide is in our favor. Good. Guan thought as he moved with his men.
"Keep it up men! Look at the disheartened faces of our enemy! Overwhelm them and bring down these new 'Red Turbans'!"
Suddenly a soldier rode to him. He listened to the soldier intently and soon the look of surprise crept onto his face. Dammit Liang. Guan thought as he pulled on the reigns of Red hare and began moving again. Not too much longer he had arrived to were Yan Liang was fighting the men mercilessly. It was as though the field quieted compared to Guan's voice. It boomed through the land and sounded over each man.
"Yan Liang! Keep your head! Do not lash at the peasants!"
Guan said as he looked to Liang.
"My Lord!"
Guan's head jerked the other way, there was a man who had come towards him valiantly. He was armed with his sword ready. Guan's own soldier warned him and Guan lifted his Green Dragon to catch the man's weapon.
"A red turban? Why do you fight so? Do you not care for the people of this city!?"

Guan Yu and Yan Liang continued to give battle against Cheng Teng along with his Red Turbans. The scarves were fierce in combat and it was most likely due to Zhang Jiao’s discipline. It was a shame that they were now doing the opposite of what their former lord had taught. The soldier that Yu was entangled with just spit in his face. They were sick of Shu’s name being brought up in every city, in every tavern. There was no work for most of them in times of peace and they would not go back to simply farming for a living. The rush of war and the bounty following a successful was all they now lived for. The battle looked to be a stalemate until Yun Nan civilians appeared from the streets of the city with pitchforks, hammers, and axes! “Guan Yu, we shall aid you!” an old man said, stabbing a Red Turban in the face with a pitchfork. He raised his arm, in defiance of Cheng Teng, and winked to Guan Yu. Immediately after, the elder was cut down by two Turbans. Still, the civilians had pincered the enemy of Shu and now were in a desperate situation. The reinforcements from the city were 1500 strong! Yan Liang’s comrade continued the fight outside the city against Cheng Teng and his spears. The Turban could tell his men were wavering and he decided to flee while he had the chance. As soon as he was seen riding away on his horse the Turban morale began its steady fall. ***************** Defending Force has Morale at 60%! Guan winced as the man spin in his face. Anger built up in Guan's being for a second and it unleashed just as fast as it was built up. Guan quickly withdrew his Green Dragon, letting the man's own strength lunge him forward slightly and in that second of unexpected advance Guan forced his Green Dragon through the center of the man's chest. Guan tensed his arm and using as much of his strength that was needed to bring his blade upwards killing the man quickly and causing his body to fly back into the enemy's ranks.
Guan's head lifted seeing the old man who had brought the townspeople to support them. The sight truly encouraged Guan and he could tell that it had encouraged hsi troops as well. The enemy archers' fire had been stopped and it meant it was time to make the supreme counter offensive. The battle was no longer to win over Yun nan, but to rid Yun Nan of these men that longed for war, these men that could be a problem for the townspeople.
"Men! Work alongside the men and women of Yun Nan. Rid us of these Red Scarves. Horsebowmen, trample them, feed them your arrows. Spear Calvary, run through your enemies. Trample them, let them taste the steel of your spears. Victory is ours this day"
Guan yelled to his men as they roared back in comply. It was as if they received a second wind and were going strong once more. The effect of the speech reached the men outside the gates as well. Though they could not hear him, the roar of the men of Shu could be heard outside of the city as well. The swords and shields men that Guan controlled outside of the city began a second attack, much more fierce than before.
*Guan's troops have strengthened their attack from the morale advantage and the retreat of Cheng Tong
