Name: Sun Liao
Style Name: Fengtai
A.K.A: The Unsung Hero
Age: 24
Sex: Male
Height: 6'1"
Weight: 210lbs
Appearance: Avatar!
Weapon 1: After stupidly sticking his spear in the ground in Jin Yang, he is now main weaponless, SO he now carries a sword, about 2 1/2 ft. long blade and a handle made of pearl and marble. On it in gold are inscriptions of the Sun family and their once noble position. A gift from the Han Emperors of old.
And a shield, which is not a weapon, but a defensive devise... Um yeah, looks like this!
Weapon 2: I've come to the conclusion that if I had 2 swords, that would be gay, so I now have a simple recurve bow...
Personality: Quiet and calm, he keeps his cool in heated and dangerous situations. He is loyal to those whom he trusts and cares for and is willing to give anything including his life for those he loves and cares for. On the battlefield he is quite merciless though he doesn't torture and never lets an innocent man not flee. If he can he will do whatever it takes to prevent bloodshed, but if his lord wills it he will do what he must. But besides all that serious stuff we can just say he's a "nice guy".
Horse: Li- Meaning strength; plum; black; sharp; beautiful
History: His father was a man of some stature, but Sun never knew from what, they lived on a boat and sailed up and down China's rivers. His father always seemed nervous, as if someone were following him, but Sun did not take notice of it until his mid teens. His father was named Sun Kai, a soldier of the Han in his youth but a lousy fish merchant in the present.
Sun always looked up to his father, not for his horrific fishing, but for his skill with his blade. He would slice through fish with the utmost skill skinning them with ease. He would even convince customers to purchase some of his lousy chinese fish, that they could easily catch if they had a stick and a string, with his sweet sword skills. When Liao turned 19 he asked his father, why does he fish when he is so skilled with a blade, his father simply replied,
"I desire to live a simple life, where war and my skill with this blade is of no use, and that is what I want for you my son. Great lords need not the services of lowly fisherman salesman, and that is what I am and you are destined to be."
Liao, unenthused with his destined fate retires, only after asking if he could learn to fight, because you know....pirates kill a lot of families now adays. A few weeks later when traveling down the Yellow river they were passing Luo Yang and Kai got quite nervous. Unknown to Sun his father was a deserter of the Han army. Stationed in Luo Yang he had not meant to sail that way. While sailing they come across a Han patrol boat.
Kai tries to be cool but when in sight of the men he quickly hides below the deck of the ship, knowing something was suspicious the soldiers boarded. They tore through their possessions as they searched for reasoning behind such behavior. Upon seeing Kai they realized he was the bodyguard who punched the governor in the face before fleeing the city. Almost amused they started harassing him and calling him mean Chinese insults and had restrained him when Sun had arrived.
Seeing his father tied and harassed enraged Sun to a point he had never been. Reaching for his fathers gutting knives on the wall Sun quickly cut down one of the men. The other drew his sword and the two dueled. Sun being the inexperienced son with a skinning knife was quickly shoved aside as the men was about to stab him the door slammed open. A large prestigious man with a big blue cape and large mail armor walks in and looks at the scene surrounding him. He stopped the man from slaying Sun, despite his crime, and turned to Kai,
"You have abandoned your post and duties, not to mention punched me, to pay for your crime you will lose your son, not to death, I have spared him that, he has spirit. No he will now serve as a soldier of the Han and a defender of Luo Yang and fulfill the final five years you had left."
At this he lifted Sun and dusted the dirt off his shoulder. He continued to grab Sun by the face and turn it in both directions as if examining, though obvious he was not and then pushed him backwards onto the floor. The governor walked off the ship and the soldier ready to kill Sun picked him up and brought him towards the Han ship as well, as Sun looked back at his father he saw sorrow and defeat in his eyes, but more then anything, fear.
"So much for not wanting the services of a lowly fisherman merchant..."
Thus started Sun's training as a soldier. He was stationed on the western wall where he had dutifully kept watch and had trained the hardest out of all. He was taught of glory on the battlefield and death for honor. His five years went quickly and the governor reluctantly sent him away. Now Sun is out to find a worthy lord and to bring honor back to his father. Sun Liao is no deserter, and he is no coward, he will fight to give his father the world he so desires, who still sells very crappy Chinese fishes for far too much.
