"Agreed then. Meet me in the barracks if you will Wei Yan."
Such deep commanding words, though spoken in a more friendly manner, came from a tall man. He seemed older than most, thanks to his distinguishing beard, but was not as old as most. The man's name was Guan Yu. The kingdom of his brother was at peace for the time being so he took it upon himself to have a friendly match with one of the more notable officers in the area.
As Guan spoke he mounted his monstrous Red Hare and rode it off towards the barracks. He had his Green Dragon in his right hand, as his left clenched the reigns of the legendary Red Hare, the speed of the horse nearly sending him toppling back if he hadn't held the reigns. Once at the barracks, he dismounted the monstrous horse and allowed it to eat from the hay from most of the dummies in the barracks.
Guan ran his left hand through his beard as he awaited the small duel pad that was in the barracks. The officers always had to stay up on their skill and this was the place most went to do it.

A smile crept across Wei Yan's face as Guan Yu spoke. He had heard this man had attended most of the battles with Dong Zhuo, meaning that he fancied himself quite a warrior. That was good, because Yan was the same way, and no better way to stay at the top of your game than to duel another warrior.
Mounting his own horse, Sunset, a chestnut colored horse, a bit taller than most, and with a rather beautiful red mane, he moved for the barracks. It didn't take long, and once there he dismounted, spear in hand. Strapped to his back was his battle-ax. Lu Rai had followed, but he was weaponless and merely there to watch.
Once at the barracks, Wei Yan made his way across from Guan Yu and smiled a bit again. "Well, Guan Yu, it seems we're all prepared, I'll give you honor of the first move."
With that, Wei Yan twirled his long spear, Horizon, fell into a defensive stance. His right hand held the end of the spear, and his left was in the middle, spear tip at the ground, shaft out infront of him a bit. His legs were bent, as were his arms. There he stood, waiting.

Guan Yu smiled as the man rode up. A good test besides Zhang Fei. He thought to himself looking at his opponent for the day. He quickly pulled up his Green dragon and held it in both hands with the blade pointing upwards a little. As Wei Yan came in front of him and positioned himself Guan braced his stance and awaited.
"Fine."
Guan spoke before gripping his massive poleblade tighter. The duel was to be friendly and to keep them both on their toes so Guan's swings would have to be careful. His Green Dragon could easily slice off limbs with enough force so he made sure that his swings wouldn't be that powerful.
Just as quickly as he positioned the weapon it was lifted into the air and brought downward towards Wei Yan's chest, though he had expected him to deflect his weapon or avoid it with the more agile spear.

Wei Yan looked the man over for a moment, and the moment he saw the polearm begin it's descent, his interest sparked. Since it had already been agreed there would be no lives ended on this day, Yan had to completely change his normal gameplain.
Raising up the haft of his spear, he caught the shaft of the poleblade and quickly shoved it out-wide to his left, using the momentum of the shove and his own spring-loaded legs he tossed himself to the right, spinning in the move. With the spin, he brought the blunt end of the spear around and moved to slam it into the back of Guan Yu.
Both men knew each other to be very familiar with their weapons, so it wouldn't come as a surprise if Wei Yan's attack failed somehow.

Guan, not surprised by the parry, quickly tensed his right arm to make sure that his weapon didn't move out too far. Despite that fact Guan also knew that he wouldn' have been able to draw it back to him in time to deflect the oncoming attack, but things went into his favor still.
Seeing Wei Yan spring to his right, Guan immediately spun to his right so that his frong was facing Wei Yan, and that the body of his Green Dragon went in an upward diagonal slant across his body. Seeing the blunt end of the spear heading towards him, he spun once more, the butt of the spear hitting his left tricep. Guan ended the spin so that the top of the guandao's blade was heading towards Wei Yan's neck. If Yan didn't do anything to stop the blade, Guan would stop it himself, before it could touch Yan's skin.

Wei Yan hadn't expected the towering man to be so quick, but then again, good warriors were masters at feinting, especially their own talents. When his spear connected with something, again Yan was rather surprised, though at what cost had he recieved a hit, possibly his life? Hardly...
The mobile Wei Yan noticed the spear in time to bring his head down, pull it to the right, under the blade of his opponent and keep himself alive. With that manuver Yan stepped up with his left foot and brought it thunder towards the back of Guan Yu's left knee. If he connected, the mighty warrior would find it very hard to get away from a loss to The Ravager of Courage, Wei Yan, for a spear would be twirled and pointed directly at the back of the man's neck.

An expected result. Wei Yan had moved his head slightly so that Guan's blade went right over Wei Yan's head. The man then cleverly moved from Guan, but was right back so that he had kicked Guan in the back of his knee. This was expected of the man and Guan grinned, until he felt impact of the man's foot against the back of his knee.
At impact Guan felt his knee shoot forward, causing him to lose his balance for a moment. This wasn't an unusual strike for getting someone to go off balance since his brother would need to resort to certain techniques whenever they sparred hand-to-hand. A second later, Guan caught himself and spun so that he was looking at Wei yan. However, to his surprise he was met with a spear head, aimed directly at his throat, though the head of his Green Dragon was brought around as well, and positioned at Wei Yan's chest.
"Now... a warrior with such skill as yours... why is it that you serve no one?"

Recoiling back away from the spear, keeping his defensive stance that'd he started with, Yan shook his head.
"Serve no one? I serve myself, as should you. No greater leader than a man's morals, wouldn't you agree? This land is going into a darker time, and I will not be the guard dog of some warlord seeking fame. Now are you gonna keep asking questions?" It was apparent in the man's voice that on the battlefield he was a whole differnet person. He breathed in small roars and snarls. His body hung like a feather, yet all his muscle were ready any type of movement. Oh yes, Wei Yan was bred for war, it's what he did above all other things.
Not truly giving the man time to answer, Yan barreled forward, using the shaft of his spear to knock the extended glaive to the side. The moment the shaft connected with the spear, Yan was in the air, spinning a bit to bring the spear's blunt end down toward's the man's collar.

"Interesting answer."
Guan said as his hand jerked with the strike from Wei Yan's spear shaft. Next came a simple strike, and it instantly put Guan on his toes for something bigger coming. As Wei jumped into the air, Guan moved to the side in a rapid side step and grabbed the butt of his Green Dragon. Moving ever so slightly from the attack of Wei Yan, Guan brough his Dragon across in a sweep, aimed for Wei's ankles. According to Guan's timing it would hit Wei as he touched down, though fate was an odd thing and could turn out differently.

The moblie warrior had hoped his sudden rush would catch the warrior off guard, but he was sadly mistaken. Having missed his target, his eyes fell to the man, and the blade that was to be his end. Snarling a bit he pushed his weight down, extending his legs fully as to touch down faster. Once he hit, he had only enough time to jump again as the weapon caught the bottom of his boots slightly.
With another snarl, Wei Yan was in the air ever so slightly again, using his new momentum to send his own spear, broadside into his opponent's side. His hope was that his opponent's attack would force him to no be able to react fast enough for the strike.

"Oof."
The grun was emitted from the tall warrior. It was apparent that Wei Yan's spear had collided into Guan Yu's side and it had shocked him for the slightest second, until his arm snapped out and gripped the spear, right underneath the head. Guan stood back to his full height from his previous attempt to sweep the man. Then he did the unthinkable. He thrust the butt of his Dragon into the ground.
After he did he gripped the spear again, and suddenly pulled it back to bring Wei Yan close enough. Using the hopefully unexpected gesture and his natural strength from his years of working on his farm to bring Wei Yan into arm reach. Once he was Guan would use his free hand to reach out and attempt to lift Wei Yan over his head and throw him.

Wei Yan's spear was being ripped from him the instant he'd scored his first true hit on the beast. Sure the kick to the knee was nice, but it wasn't a true hit. With a roar, Wei Yan followed the spear, his shoulder down and his head up, snarling the whole way. He barrled into the man, hoping to use the warrior's own suddenness agianst him.
If so he'd step back, taking hold both his own spear and Guan Yu's glaive and ready himself in a new stance. Both spears would be held in one hand, each up under the armpit and back behind the head, blades pointing to the ground. For then it would either be a loss for the mighty Guan Yu unless he had another weapon.

He's coming to me? Got him. Guan thought. As Wei Yan followed the momentum of the dragged spear Guan's free arm would be able to grab Wei Yan before he even got close enough to him so that he could be hit. Using Wei Yan's momentum Guan just added a little upward force to flip him over the head of the man with the magnificent beard. However Wei Yan would land, either on his feet or on his back, Guan wouldn't let go of his spear.
Guan also reached next to him and grabbed his Guan Dao and pointed the head of it towards Wei Yan's head, either on the ground or in the air.

Wei Yan roared as he hit the ground in a tumble. Honestly, it amazed him how he'd been picked up one-handed and tossed, but that didn't matter. When the mobile warrior popped up Guan Yu was pointing his blade downwards where Wei Yan should have been. Thank heaven's the warrior knew how to roll.
With a roar Yan charged forward again, sending a stern boot onto the top of the glaive. With that he'd force the weapon either into the dirt if not moved, or to move either way. With that he planted the blade of his spear into the ground and threw himself forward. His left arm at his chest to block with a bracer and his right arm rared back for a punch that would surely send the great warrior, Guan Yu, reeling if it connected on his jaw like Yan meant it to.

Guan rose his eye brow at the man as he sprung to his feet. As Wei yan charged for him again Guan thought about moving the spear he had acquired from Wei Yan in the way so that the man wouldn't reach him, but possibly wind himself. Though Guan did no such thing. He stood there and took the blow. His head instantly jerking in the way of the attack and him stumbling back a few steps, his hands still wrapped firmly around the two polearms.
Guan slowly moved his head back in line with his body as he twirled the two polearms in each hand. Stopping with the heads towards the ground, and forcing them into the ground. He let go of the two weapons as they stood on their own and a smile spread across Guan's face.
"I say... we take it easy, and call this a draw. What do you say Wei Yan. Both of us could keep going for hours, but there is too much that could be accomplished."
