*Taken off to the side, his lieutenant introduced him to a foreign warrior who introduced himself as Eshmunbaal. The man, who both both in an odd accent and wore a strange design of armor he had never seen before, was a general of Carthage. Zhiyun knew not what Carthage was, or where. He simply assumed that it was to the west, as the land to the west stretched beyond that which Sun Yuan Ci could ride in his lifetime. It couldn't be a northern land, as how could Eshmunbaal transit his men from north of the Great Wall into the land he now perched himself upon? Nevertheless, he was then brought up to answer a question that would take a man little time to conjure a response for. Zhiyun bettered that. Instead of taking little time to conjure a response, he took no time, opening his mouth just as soon as the foreign general closed his.*
"You ask this question in a serious manner? I do not intend to insult you, but if you do wonder why we raise a call for arms against Ma Chao, then you truly are a general from another land. Ma Chao would conquer and enslave, while I would pacify and govern. Ma Chao was seen in the Qiang Lands, and shortly after he returned with the army of the Qiang at his call. He allies himself with barbarians, which is not only a powerful military alliance, but also an act of injustice, dishonor, and a foreshadow of things to come. Mengqi would invade the Han Capitals, capture the emperor, and bring about an age of militarism, filling a void that should be filled with an age of peace. That is why I will fight him until my body collapses, because I believe in a day where rolling fields are a sight to lay down and watch the clouds pass, not a place to clash blades in war."
*Zhiyun's attention was then taken to the side, where he saw the distant Wu banners. Zhou Tai called for him. He had never met the man, but wanted to. A fine knight, and a fine governor, as he had seen Wu through tough days with nothing but a golden aura about him. One would never guess their royal family was all but dead and dispatched to rival warlords. Zhou Tai, on top of all that, commanded an army that was said to create quakes in the earth wherever they set up camp due to it's massive size. Zhiyun took a few steps to the Wu Knight's direction, clenching his fist in his other hand, bowing his head in a military salute. As Zhou Tai spoke of the might Zhiyun was fabled to possess, he hid a grin beneath his bow. In a swift maneuver, he drew his own shortsword, and slashed his sword in a brilliant speed to his lieutenant's waist. The tip of his blade sat perched at the handle of his lieutenant's longsword. In a hard flick, he set the sword in flight to his direction, and took it in his left hand as it approached.*
*With this sword in hand, he lowered it to Zhou Tai's side, and used it to pull his sword a few inches out of it's sheath, ringing steel loud enough for many soldiers to hear, and gather their attention. A smile stretched across the warrior's face as he spoke.*
"I am afraid that we must also search for wood for fires as well, for I cannot breath such from my mouth. But I assure you, on the field of battle, there is nothing that I bring that can be seen to disappoint. Now come, Master Zhou Tai, why don't we show these men a true show of swordplay?"

Taken aback by Sun Yuan Ci's quick and decisive response, Eshmunbaal became rather silent. He looked around the camp, seeing many different banners, all having come to stop the threat that was Ma Chao. Had Eshmunbaal been so blind for such a long time, that he failed to see righteousness when it was right in front of him kicking him in the nuts. Now his eyes had been opened. If he allowed this Ma Chao to continue, Eshmunbaal and his men would never find a safe place to stay, to live out their lives in peace.
Maybe it was time to stop running from war, and help to make the peace they had been so desperately looking for.
Completely blind to what was happening between Sun Yuan Ci and Zhou Tai, Eshmunbaal mounted his horse and rode out of the camp towards his men that were still waiting there. As he was riding towards them he was already busy shouting orders, yet again in Punic. The men reacted surprised at what Eshmunbaal shouted towards them, and many remained with this facial expression as they rode off towards the battlefield.

Gongsun Zan watched as the officers began to break off, going towards the battle. He saw one such man begin to shout in a strange language to his men. Zan admired their ability to understand and comprehend.
Zan himself took off towards the battle, remembering the man's face and standard well...

"This is an outrage, I'm an official not leader of men!" Approaching the camp for the allied forces at Qing Ni Pass, ever since leaving the presence of the young Liu he had been complaining about being sent to Chang'An to help some unknown warrior fight off a little child with issues. However, a thought came to the eunuch's mind, this could be a great opportunity to slander Liu Bei's name; fueling the dislike for him.. yes! If he could do just that. But, if anyone of Shu were to appear at this skirmish? They wouldn't know, the rumours he had been spreading had not yet reached Chengdu; Hao hoped.
On his dark yellow robes the Eunuch carried the markings of Liu Shan, showing that he was here on the son of Shu's behalf. Better Hao was appearing than Shan himself, if any of the Shu officers got to him in his current state; his mind could be swayed! "This could be interesting after all." Looking over the men that had already arrived the Eunuch was rather surprised: Zhou Tai, the man keeping Wu alive. Sun Yuan Ci, the Lord of T'se and some strange man who did not look native to this land. Turning his head to look in the direction of the battle path, Hao noticed the banners of Gongsun Zan; so he is here? Yes! If anyone was to help the rumours spread to discredit that 'Lord of Shu' it would be him!
Hao's eyes looked down at his blade, given to him by a friend; hopefully his men will be enough to guard him from the need of using the jian. On a black horse the Eunuch made his way to the battle path, he was far north... People here would know who he was, the words he spread about Liu Bei; caution was on high priority. Representing Liu Shan, the Eunuch made his way to the battle, followed by a small unit of men wielding Shields, spears and swords. Hao's facial expression was not too pleased of being here, prefering the life of an official than an attempted commander... But life has its obstacles...

*Looking at the number of Generals who had arrived under the pretext of halting the aggression of Ma Chao made Mortiss chuckle. He knew why they had come, peace is boring. These men loved war and would not cease until nobody was left to fight. Unfortunately for Ma Chao his expansionist dreams sparked the light that enabled all men to fight a war with a perfect excuse.*
*None of the individuals particularly interested the savage, to him they were like excitable kids eager to play at being general. They were all dressed in the same ridiculous tin draped across their bodies, they all spouted the same nonsense and they all wanted to be the one to deal a crippling blow to Chao. Unusually it would seem Mortiss was quite relaxed, he had sat himself down on the grass sharpening his swords. Usually Mortiss was the first to run in at the enemy hacking and slashing a way through. This all war was just a joke, Mortiss would fight in it and Mortiss would make a big impression, though his objective was not the same as these chunks of metal.*
*He looked up to Cao Cao who was close by and snorted*
"Is it time?"

Zhou Tai looked slightly amused at Sun Yuan Ci as he lowered the blade to his head and drew his blade for him. However, it was not a condescending look, but one of unexpected delight. As he gripped his own sword, he motioned for a soldier to his right to throw him a blade. The blade he recieved was a double-sided longsword. As he took up his magestic, wicked looking katana in his left hand, he finished the job Sun Yuan Ci started, He took a brief step backwards as he familiarized himself with the new blades weight; it was suprisingly even when compared to his own sword, which was lucky on his part. Now, however, was the time to show these men a real fight. He was sure Sun Yuan Ci had no intention of killing him, but the troops looked as if they needed a morale boost. They were about to get one.
Zhou Tai decided to take the preemptive first strike. As he turned his body sideways, his left side was now facing SYC like a fancer. He held his left arm out slightly bent upwards, with his left wrist locked, pointing his blade at SYC's belly-button. Over his head, he held his other blade in his right hand. his arm bent and wrist locked as well, the blade pointing at SYC's face. He shuffled forward once, faked a stab, and withdrew a few feet once more. He repeated this action once more, but followed through in the execution.
As he jutted out his katana, His left arm thrusted out, and he seemed to glide forward. As he brought his blade towards SYC's left, he quickly twirled his blade around the once closest to it, and then once making a full circle, slapped the tip to Zhou Tai's right. Then, he swung the sword in his right hand backwards, and then diagonally towards his mid-section. Most of the power came from the hips, like a good golf-swing; he twisted them slightly, and seemed to almsot thrust them forward a bit as his sword came up at his side. Then, he shuffled backwards a bit, and went back into his stance.

The master of Wei had apparently made a request to wait for Ma Chao to assault the Glory force. One would assume when to two armies wore each other out the allied counter attack would not only leave the hordes from Xi Liang weak and confused and thus be banished back to there own lands. However most generals seemed to be eagerly veering stright for the battlefeild, like a bunch of barinless zombies.
Even the Wei general Mortiss was ready to head right into the middle of a fight. He was like a beast on a leash, though Xiahou Dun wouldn't complain so long as cousin Cao held the reign to that leash. He walked up behind where these two were having a conversation.
"Peace mortiss, let's let Mengde here decide when we move out. Oh and lady Shang Xiang I heard about the child's birth congratulations, I trust your back to, well normal so to speak, else you wouldn't be here. So nice to see something as beautiful as new born child in this age of chaos."

Post by Mr Wu Sheng on Aug 12, 2008 5:19:42 GMT -5
OMG - the whinnies have come out to play Oh wait..nope - it's just our reflection
Soldiers were a necessity of war, which - (is such a fucking obvious observation for me to be making) were chosen by the minute few of this land to serve, they were the swords, arms and well being of an imperial state - for without soldiers, no protection was to be gained - and with no protection came no ambition, and although Wu Sheng Tian moved into this forthcoming war to remove the ambitions of this new tyrant, he knew that deep inside something like ambition drove all men, it was just a simple matter of 'is it good, or is it bad?'
Ma Chao he believed was bad, not because of his more - brutal tactics, but because the man drove for no reason other then to achieve power, there was nothing politically beneficial behind his moves, no sly manners that would leave him empowered at a result of brains or intellect - it was with simple might and determination that he attacked, and it was that blind faith in his prowess that made him a threat.
Still - every man Wu Tian had met believed in similar prospects, and the sad part of that truth was that the most virtuous, courageous rulers were the ones who showed this demonic prospect the most.
Just like Sun Yuan Ci...
Now although Sun Yuan Ci was his ruler and liege, a man who could put together the broken bits to Wu's life, for without the empire now as his home - no doubt he'd too have turned against society, and that would have in his own way waged a war with those around him, but even with that - Sun Yuan Ci was still motivated by an ambition. So maybe Wu Tian was lucky to have been accepted within the ranks of this virtuous ruler - but still - deep inside this ruler pounded a hidden ambition, a motivation that was so thirsty that it drank the blood it needed by forcing the wielder to simply think it's the force of courage and virtue that propels them to continue, when in actuality - it isn't, it's the drive for combat, for war.
For mankind are but wolves, lost - untamed and un-caring. As a race they are the lonesome predators of this land, and when they can't see eye to eye they unleash their differences with the greatest test of all, the status or partial prowess of their natural abilities.
Men were wolves - the only difference between them were that most of man were far too civilised to see this, and because of that they were cowards, un-deserving to carry a blade, or to lead a kingdom to victory. Besides all the chaos around them, a wolf is a pack animal - just as a human is. The only worry for Wu Tian here was, would Sun Yuan Ci destroy his people, or would he bring them together, as a pack - as a force that would leave marks larger then any others around him.
He knew only time would tell - and there was never enough time in his eyes when a war was present. So the army behind him continued as he pondered over his thoughts - the cries of a distant battle shedding it's new light upon their ears as they peered down the ridge to see the allied pass, it was a demeaning place, and although it was filled with soldiers - tools of war, something amiss seemed present - and that later revealed itself to be co-ordination and commitment, it seemed this rabble was nothing, each small force acting separately on it's own.
Wu Tian dismissed the idea that came shortly after his inspections, and rode his 50 elite horsemen to the fore of the camp, where he hoped to speak directly with Sun Yuan Ci, a man worthy of his talents - or so..at least for the time being anyway.
"My Lord." His bark came as no surprise, for his greeting to his master was always one and the same, it was a loud - low pitched stutter, followed curtly by the prolonged word of Lord that rang across the small camp - "I have come with 50 elite horsemen, they carry both shield and spear, and are awaiting your orders!"
He turned back to his men, receiving their bow of admiration as he promptly returned their warm acknowledgment, "Although i cannot help but feel anxious my lord, my instincts are the only thing i need to fight, to win and survive - but something is daunting me - i fear we may feel a wrath of a true pack soon enough. I do not think we are dealing with a mere rabble of ambitious fools, they seem co-ordinated, a lot more then-" He paused to take a quick glance at the surroundings, taking in the fact that most armies were indeed separate, "We need to work together, otherwise we are doomed - also, where is Huang Zhong, i received word that he is here? and yet i see him not."

Post by Cao Cao on Aug 12, 2008 9:51:19 GMT -5
The call of the mighty old dragons had rallied forth the tigers of ancient China, here now to vanquish tyranny at Qing Ni pass. Many great names responded to the sirens song, while a few new faces came tog race the battlefield, even foreign ones. The Carthaginian Eshmunbaal was seemingly a man who would follow his intrigue of the world to greater heights, going so far as to leave his home continent for this far eastern patch of chaos. Cautious eyes would undoubtedly watch over this mysterious general and his set of exotic armour, yet more optimistic eyes would hope he would be considered an ally.
Infamous relics in the form of Gonsun Zan had come to bolster the morale of all men here, whom had all been graced by tales of the mans talents. The northern commander of the Bai Ma, Zan proved himself to be a paramount of courage, aiding to take down the tyrant that was Dong Zhuo. Another man who was so prominent on the very same battlefield quickly joined the small band of generals in their discussion, as Zhou Tai stepped forward to lay down his stern, yet valuable words. New faces mixed with these old ones, and together, this unity, this stretching of generations, would be the very marriage that could stop the rampaging Mengqi.
Soon to arrive behind Mengde were the rest of the Wei army, though now more of a personal entourage for the lord. There was his trusted cousin and loyal general Xiahou Dun, who also had proved to be a master of tactical warfare during his clash with the fat man. His eye for attention and preparation soon latched onto the situation at Qing Ni, where his men, coupled with Cao Cao’s, began to sat up camp. Dutifully close to her lord was the lady Xiang, who had taken the initiative and made checks on all the supplies and equipment. She had transcended beyond the casual concubine of a warlord, but now a true companion in battle, and a trusted officer of the ranks. Finally, stinking and snarling, and standing out like a sore thumb, was the beast warrior Mortiss. While his capability as a tactful officer was dubious, his skill as a fighter was almost unparalleled, and all Mengde would need to do is keep the creature on a leash until time beckoned forth the bloodthirsty.
In conversing with Sun Zhiyun, Cao was given an offer greater than any other; the T’se lord offered to train Mengde’s newborn child in the true art of warfare. Cao Cao himself wasn’t unskilled at fighting, he could easily hold his own on the battlefield, but compared to the now infamous Sun Yuan Ci, he fell clearly short. Now the combined efforts of Mengde’s ruthless and cunning mind, the fiery passion of Sun Shang Xiang, and the unstoppable force of Sun Yuan Ci would craft the perfect warlord in the new Cao child: for now however, it was this generation’s time for battle.
Mengde was somewhat saddened to hear that Zhiyun would be rushing ahead to face the horde at Chang An, still vehemently believing that the best course of action was to stay and prepare defences against the flood of the Golden Horde. Despite this, Cao admired the lords virtuosity, and understood his motives. Briefly nodding, the Wei lord gave a succinct response.
“Very well lord Zhiyun, I shall hope to see your prowess on the battlefield soon.” He spoke with clear reverence, not needing to mince words with the man anymore, as he tended to his own generals, and the rallying awe of other gathered men. Turning to the lady Xiang, Mengde grinned at the woman’s doting nature, and nodded in gratitude at her recent actions.
“Excellent, we’ll have the men establish the defences in lieu of the more.. Ambitious.. generals that have arrived today.” To this the lord smirked, and began to walk around the camps, his nostril hairs tingling from a new stench. Down to his side, speaking along with the whistling tune of blades sharpening, the creature Mortiss expressed his will to battle. Before responding, Xiahou Dun would attempt to calm the beast, but it would likely to be to little avail. A genuine smile crept upon Mengde’s lips as his cousin congratulated them on their news of the newborn, but was soon quickly turned sly as he once again faced Mortiss, attempting to sate the creatures bloodthirst.
“You’ll have your battle soon enough Mortiss. I have better plans for you other than to send you with the rest of these overly ambitious generals in their defence of Chang An. The pass needs your chaotic soul to keep it standing.” A brief chuckle escaped his lips as he scanned the gate once again, witnessing many men walk along the ramparts and set up various defensive measures. The time would soon come, and the battle would quickly crash upon these gates - he hoped the rest of the Allies could realise the true strength Ma Chao possessed.

As the officers of wei stood next to there lord Cao Cao watching every one head to Chang An, word had already come that the Glory Kingdom had given up the city and were all retreating to this postion, so the big clash would not be at Chang An but rather be sited to the Qing Ni Pass.
"What idiocy, I'll they've done is get the troops hopes up only now to have been crushed."
From behind him however Yu Jin approched, and handed a scroll off to Dun. He quickly read it over, and looked up rather pleased.
"Well Mengde It seems are main units are arriving as well, oh yes mortiss, this just means more action for you."

*Upon hearing the words spouted from the so called 'lord of Wei' his not so faithful General stood at once to attention and gazed out to where the battle would begin. The front line was Mortiss' home, it was the only place he felt affection for. He would be the first to engage the over hyped Ma Chao at the pass, he would not allow anybody that honour. Hissing like a snake he motioned to his men to advance to the front line. Mortiss was at the head with a look of supreme confidence and excitement, his eyes were beginning to turn white, the anticipation had finally got to him. He screamed out in a deafening display of torture to the other warriors present*
"If anybody tries to get ahead of me I will kill you!"
*This was not an idle threat and if anybody knew Mortiss or his reputation then they would realise this. This was not a man who followed orders without objection, he was just as likely to use this battle to settle scores with his own allies than to actually fight Ma Chao. This man from Wei was a liability and everybody knew it, but he did have a unique talent of insanity which none could rival. Purposefully he barged and pushed his way through the allies as if he was actually aiming for them, if somebody got in his way he spat at them and knocked them off balance before shouting abuse*
*Once he had reached the front by means of pushing everyone else aside he began to equip his body. He threw on some old beaten armour which was light and seemed to be falling apart before it was even on, it covered his shoulders but not much else. Next he ceremonially applied his war paint. Mortiss was a superstitious fellow who believed this woad to give him supernatural strength and defense. Next he took his herbs, these were grown by Mortiss himself to put him in a state of frenzy. The effects were long term and it would take a while before they took effect and Mortiss estimated that just as Chao appeared they would set in. He was a frightful sight, muscular, scarred, and covered in filth interwoven with his spiritualist paint.*
"Hurry the fuck up Chao!!!!!!!"

Huang Zhong rode into camp weary and tired. The ride had been a rough one, but he had managed to make it back to camp with at least thirty men left. These men were glad to be alive after facing such odds against them, and deserved a good rest. Sadly, they would not get it, and they knew it. Only briefly would they be able to rest before once again heading into battle. Nevertheless, these men knew what as coming, and they would fight regardless for the old veteran. Collapsing for an ever brief rest, the old veteran left them in order to see to his remaining forces.
As he tied his horse, Huang Zhong thought of the large warrior he had shot at Chang An. He had not seemed all to bright, but he would surely remember Huang. If that warrior came, he would surely be after the old man. He must be ready for such a thing to occur. He was actually looking forward to the encounter. If he could slay such a warrior, even if he was a beast, it would mean fame and glory for him and his kingdom. Defense of the pass, however, came first. Walking off, he made his way to where the remainder of his troops were stationed.

[Don't know what I'm doing... I was just told to join. >.>]
Xueman blinked slowly, her unannounced arrival at the allied camp going all but unnoticed. Of course, she had little to no name in the world of war, so it was something that one could have easily expected. She had heard of a great war brewing, and had at once set forth. It was after all her first chance to make a name for herself in this dawning age of death and destruction, so it was something to be taken advantage of. Her eyes scanned across the assembled group, and she took a deep breath. Nervous, perhaps? Or maybe just a mite shy. She shook the hesitation off, and dismounted, standing beside Ma with Nail, her Guan Dao, in hand, and Needle, a chained Kama attached to Nail, wrapped securely around her waist.
With another look she felt even more intimidated than before. A fledgling like her did not truly belong in this place, and yet she'd come so far to declare her name. Assisting these allied forces against Ma Chao's horde would be the only way to do that, as she saw it, and so she'd need to overcome this intimidated feel. It did not suit such a lady as herself to allow herself such feelings. Xueman decided then and there that the insecurity would not last long seeing as how when the battle arrived she could not afford such a weakness.
"Such a surge of emotion for such a small step." She whispered softly to herself.
Regardless of any feelings she had, she was here, and she would fight. Making her way into the camp, with her soldiers at her back. She was almost an impressive figure.

Hao Zhao took another sip of his water before he put it back away in the pouch before he stood up. from the sudden change in mood in the campsite he all but gathered that Wei Yan had failed in his defence of Chang An and the Ma Chao forces were now heading here to Qing Ni. He sighed a little before he mounted on horseback.
Seemed he was going to be left disappointed in this battle. If one of the lieges couldn't keep hold of a city he wondered what the chances are of so many lords and vassals from so many different foces each with there own views would fair in defending the pass? Only the battle itself would tell so despite being disappointed Hao Zhao proceeded to acquiring as many soldiers as he could into following him to battle and left the campsite heading for the battlefield.

Aja Jex had quickly arrived at the defense setting his troops up. He looked behind and was happy that Lu Jex was alive. The troops were abit tired but had a chance to rest quickly. Now Aja Jex had a chance to set up his troops and had no idea what to do.
Aja heard that they were gathering a calvary and he know that his calvary were the Elite. Sending his out was good but with who? He couldn't decide until he heard that death was certain there.
He knew they had less chances to survive if he had raced off in front but here they had alot of protection. Even they knew a calvary alone can just break the enemies line however what if it worked? What if Ma Chao's head came back, these things were going in to Jex's mind.
Aja Jex ordered his army to formation by shouting out loud:
"When they arrive, I shall show them the Calvary I have trained for ages. My Elite warriors shall stay with me to hold off the siege touching the gates. Lu Jex, you will take the crossbow unit and place them on the wall to fire any enemy in range. Infantry will also be in Lu Jex's command and shall rest behind the gate for the time being. Don't let this chance go by! Just be patient for the time being."
Aja Jex laughed so people thought he had no fear and quickly gathered up the 200 Veterans Horsebow and 200 Elite Horse Spear and Shields. He place them side by any space left in front of the wall.
Aja Jex now had to set the other units but he led the calvary himself. He set the 100 Militia CrossBows on the wall to fire at any enemy in range. The remaining troops were with Lu Jex behind the gates resting and were preparing for battle. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Commanding Troops 100 Elite Spears and Shields 200 Veterans HorseBows 100 Militia Cross Bows 200 Elite Horse Spear and Shields
Summary -Aja Jex has arrived -Aja Jex and his 4 units of calvary are placed any space left in front of the gates -CrossBows are placed at the left flank if free -Lu Jex and the ground troops are behind the wall
