A guard along the walls of Chang An could see something gleaming in the distance as he patrolled during the afternoon. The soldier was on edge, thinking of all the stories he had heard of the Golden Horde and their might. Ma Chao himself was labeled as a War God alongside such men as Lu Bu and Guan Yu. The guard was glad that he would be behind the strong structures of Chang An, the very walls and gate that Wei Yan had built up to maximum strength. Unfortunately, walls and gates were no match for what was heading toward the city! Peasants inside the city could feel a rumbling beneath their feet as they walked through the streets of Chang An. Some looked to the sky, wondering if there would be a storm but not a cloud could be seen. The quaking slowly increased and only after a few more minutes did the people understand what was happening. It was time. In slow motion, the guard along the wall could be seen waving and pointing to the northwest. Golden banners of the Horde were spreading across the landscape, engulfing the green earth and replacing it with armored soldiers. Golden Horde Dragon Cavalry, Ma Chao’s personal elites, raced forward to the city but soon halted well out of enemy range. Dust clouds were kicked up by the 800 riders but even larger towers of smoke could be seen in the distance. The main force was slowly making its way toward Chang An with siege weaponry and over anxious soldiers. Glory soldiers were scattering along the walls, informing their comrades that the Horde had arrived to the northwest. While they did so war drums could be heard ringing out across the plains and it shook the civilians to their collective core. The elite lines of cavalry, which possessed dragon insignia upon their banners, opened up at the center to reveal the young lord of Xi Liang. Ma Chao the Splendid rode forward on his pure white charger and halted just ahead of his personal guard. He wielded a long, deadly, spear which had cut down many a foe in the name of Xi Liang and…….Justice! Wei Yan would be sentenced to death by the Judge of the Northwest! Mengqi whipped his weapon around for a display of skill for Glory’s scared soldiers who were probably crapping themselves upon the walls. If any of them would dare come close to the young lord, they would be annihilated in a single bout. “Wei Yan, the time has come for you to pay for your ignorance!” “Word has reached my ears that you tried to turn the people of Tian Shui against me? How dare you involve those people who have nothing to do with our feud?” Ma Chao yelled, raging that the enemy warrior would ask Tian Shui’s garrison to act against the horse lord. Such treacherous acts would be rewarded with a spear, to the throat. Ma Chao’s armor was grand and so was that of his elites. They were a powerful force and would wreak havoc on the battlefield should the enemy have enough courage to sally forth from the city. Until then, it would be the Horde that did all the damage! From behind the cavalry king came the rest of the Horde with multiple officers and siege weapons. Along with said troops were reinforcements from Xi Liang, civilians who raised weapons and left the safety of the city to battle for their lord. Three trebuchet were being rolled in to destroy the gate and walls along with a covered ram. They would be set up just behind the mass crazed soldiers who were rushing forward past Ma Chao and his elites. The entire army plowed across the plains but unfortunately a pit trap and fire attack were set along the main road! Xi Liang ruffians fell to their deaths and militia burned in a blaze of hell. Their allies did what they could to pull them out of the pit and stamp the fires out, but many perished. “Coward!” Yan Xing yelled, riding in from behind Ma Chao unit with the other officers. Cheng Yi was present and so was Han Sui, Mengi’s so called uncle. Not only that, but the man with a big heart was ready for battle and his name was Tiny. “Put out that fire and set up the siege weaponry!”************************ The Golden Horde:Ma Chao Yan Xing Han Sui Cheng Yi Tiny400 Elite Horse Bows 400 Elite Horse Spear/Shield 500 Militia Cavalry Lancers 500 Militia Horse Bows 500 Militia Sword/Shield 232 Militia Spear/Shield 522 Militia Spearmen 454 Militia Twin Axes 454 Militia Bowmen 700 Ruffian Bowmen 1 Covered Ram 3 Trebuchet Aid from Xi Liang:880 Ruffian Swords *120 lost due to tactics*1000 Ruffian Horse Swords 2 Siege Towers

It was true, guards upon the walls of Chang An were shaking, they were whining, most of them, were hiding a bit. One naive boy stood tall, not realizing that when people died in war, they died forever, and acted bravely. The boy ran down to Wei Yan and gave him the news. "So it starts... How many you say? That was the trembling? They've broughten trebuchets and a ram? Hmmmm... And the traps were successful? Good." stated the warrior before looking back to his men. Most of them were seasoned veterans or elite "Guardians", very few were newly drafted militia. It seemed the hour of Chang An had grown increasingly dark as the warrior thought over the numbers in his head. "Rai... This is the battle of our lives. Dong Zhuo holds no candle to our near future... Make ready." came the focused, calm tone of the warrior as he patted his companion on the shoulder. Word was quickly spreading through the ranks of soldiers, though, of how massive the army they faced was. It was no secret by the time Wei Yan looked back to his men that they faced odds they could not conquer. The newly drafted militia was overwhelmed. Men were seen puking from their horses, shakey hands gripped bows that seemed fragile all of a sudden. Words left their leader's mouth to rally them, but all was lost in their eyes. It wasn't soon that the group of militia horsebowmen were seen riding out of the west gate, running for their lives! It didn't matter how long or loud Wei Yan roared from atop the walls of Chang An, they only rode faster. The day was lost to them the very moment Ma Chao the Splendid took the field. So now, he was left with hardly anything to combat with. It didn't matter though, the Lord of Chang An would not be defeated due to a few cowards. So, the warrior mounted his horse and the great gates of Chang An opened up to let him out, and only him. Outside of the walls he strode, dressed in what seemed to be new battle garb, though as normal, no armor glistened in the sunlight. The colors of his garb were as they would be thought to be, Glory Blue with an Off-White trim. No one would doubt who the warrior was as he left. "Lordling Ma Chao--" but Wei Yan was cut off as a roar echoed out from the city, that sent a cool, caressing, shiver up Yan's body. "For Glory!! Horaah!!" boomed the roar that, undoubtedly, Lu Rai was behind. It seemed his warriors were ready to fight, but could they honestly be prepared to die? Now wasn't the time to ask their conviction, for it would be tested soon enough. "Now, this all comes to an end..." echoed the warrior before returning back into the city of Chang An. Once back inside though a fear gripped him that he dare not show. ...Heavens!! Did you see all of them? No... No... No army has ever been so large... Can we truly win? Have our allies come? Sun Yuan Ci? Zhou Tai? Guan Yu? Any of them? Heavens... Help the people, was the thoughts that echoed across his mind as he nodded his approval the the clammering warriors of Chang An. Adrenaline was spiking, weapons were ready, but above all things, morale hadn't dropped a bit since the horsemen had left. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Commanded Army:400 Spear and Shield Elites 200 Sword and Shield Veterans 200 Horsebow Milita (Running for their lives!)

Need to Confess Theme Song: All These Things That I’ve Done – The KillersLate afternoon’s slow decent into cooler and humid weather was a almost eerie setting for a disobedience from a loyal warrior princess of a proud kingdom. A tough weight loomed overhead, watchful eyes from a protector and divine judge. It was looking like another breakdown for the views of right and wrong. What comes first? Love or loyalty. One can love a family and therefore prove that love by being loyal, but when a proper loved one is in danger, most would not hesitate to throw away that loyalty in order to protect their life. What did this family mean to Xing Cai? There was the family of Shu, and then there was her actual blood family. To be fathered by someone as powerful and respected as Zhang Fei certainly initiates this form of heavy mental weight upon Xing Cai. And then there was of course the famed brothers, Guan Yu and Liu Bei. Everyone’s righteous and loveable heroes. It was never ending, and Xing Cai could no longer car for these reputations anymore. She needed to make her own decisions and fight for her own destiny. She was no longer bound to the unnecessary rumours and typical images of fame and heroism. She had her own path to walk, and for the love of heaven, this path was tough. “Lady Cai, does this not hurt you?”“Yes, it does, but I know deep down my father and uncles would want nothing less than my happiness and my own responsibility. I was born independent, I need to prove this to the kingdom of Shu.”“And of Ma Chao my lady? Do you do this for him?”Silence was all that the soldier got in reply. The men of Xing Cai were already late to reinforce Ma Chao’s furious army. She wondered how Shu would feel, knowing that she has taken off with her own band of personal soldiers to assist the lion king Ma Chao. Would there be punishment? Exile? Or maybe there would be praise for her noble actions…whatever the case, she needed to aid Ma Chao now. She was determined to stare down the army of Glory and whoever the hell they brought with them. Summary Xing Cai is a number of hours away with a medium sized army of troops to aid Ma Chao. She probably won’t get there for awhile as she is coming from Han Zhong. She is acting out of own free will as she was not cleared by Shu to do this. Woops. Troops Troops100 Spear and Shield Elites 300 Horsebow Veterans Supply Troops1 Unit of Medics

Wenyue sat silent upon his steed, staring stoically at the city of Chang An before him. He cared not about the feud between his "nephew" and Wei Yan, he took part in this campaign solely because he knew that this upstart Wei Wenchang was an obstacle that needed to be toppled; and doing so would greatly strengthen the Qiang's influence in China, this appealed greatly to Wenyue's ideals, and this would motivate him to do his utmost to destroy this man of whom he bore no grudge against.
As he sat there, his thoughts were interrupted by a familiar voice, the voice belonged to Yang Qiu, one his Eight Knights of the Banner. "Lord Han Wenyue, the army has been amassed, we are ready for an assault on the city. Lord Ma has placed you in charge of the Xi Liang forces, siege equipment, and a few militia units -- we are to strike first." Of all the Knights of the Banner, Qiu was the most sapient; ergo, Sui trusted his advice and appreciated his loyalty immensely.
Wenyue nodded as his officer informed him of the situation. "Very well. Tell the trebuchet captains to begin firing at the city, and inform the men in charge of the ram to begin moving toward the gate. Put the militia bowmen in the towers, and put the horsemen on the flanks to prevent an attack on our weaponry. The rest of the men shall march behind the towers and the ram." Yang Qiu then rode off with a few other messengers to inform everyone of their orders. It was now time to show the entire world the strength of Han-Ma army: the Golden Horde.
After a few moments, projectiles flew through the air, directly toward the great, historically valuable city of Chang An. With that, Sui smirked as drew his men up into formation. He held his spear up, waiting for a moment, then he dropped it down, this action was followed by the word, "March!" Then, like a well-oiled machine, the unit began to move toward the city as projectiles continued to fly into the city. If for some reason the army of Ma Chao failed today, it would not be because of Han Sui.
Wenchang would soon know what it was like to be whelmed by an enemy insatiably thirsty for blood....

The stage had been set. The field of battle was ready, and Ma Chao marched with a massive army at his disposal, ready to utterly crush and destroy his hated enemy, Wei Yan. Wei Yan, in the meantime, had only a handful of troops to use, and those that had rushed to his aid had done so in haste, only able to bring a meager amount of troops to the aid of the most likely nervous defender of Chang An. Huang Zhong was one of those bold individuals, bringing only half a unit of bowmen. These were the best bowmen in his unit, however, and he knew that if he could play his cards right, he could do a fair amount of damage before his reinforcements arrived.It appeared that Huang Zhong was the first of the Allied Army to arrive. He made sure that his men were set up properly, near the east wall of the city. Once they had set up ranks, Huang Zhong rode forward to the head of the ranks, drawing his sword. Raising his sword, the old man gave a loud shout to rally him men for battle. The response was not disappointing. His small unit made quite a noise, ready to die for their old general."Let Lord Weu Yan take heart! Let him know that he is not alone! He has allies in this fight, allies who will fight alongside him to stop this young upstart known as Ma Chao! We fight not only in the name of our lord, Sun Yuan Ci, but in the name of Glory!!" The small bow untit responded with another cheer. Huang could only hope that Wei Yan and his men had heard his rally and taken heart that his help was indeed on it's way, and that at least one officer was present to help stave off Ma Chao's monster of an army.Current Army

The flames of war were already engulfing soldiers upon the fields of Chang An. Golden Horde swordsmen under the command of Han Sui were hit by the Glory defensive fire tactic and many fell. However, the attackers were about to repay the favor after the first round of boulders had already crushed into the city walls. Pieces of the once great structure were now crumbling down to the ground! Ma Chao ordered the next attack to rain fire down upon the city and its defenders. The trebuchet were being loaded with flaming projectiles while the two massive towers and a covered ram moved forward. The young lord waved his spear toward Chang An and fired abuse at the enemy! "You can only hide for so long, Wei Yan! Mengqi of Xi Liang shall hunt you for the rest of your days!"The army roared as their leader taunted the enemy. Tiny himself let out a battle cry that shook the foundations of the earth. He was leading a large group of Militia Twin Axe on the left flank, near the river. Hopefully, no allies would be in that area............but it just so happened that the elder bow master, Huang Zhong, had arrived along the shore. It seemed Tiny would get the good time he was promised. Most mercenaries fought for gold, but Tiny fought just for the sake of killing! As Han Sui's unit moved forward they were hit by another pit trap, but this time it was not as deadly. The soldiers were already hit by two defensive tactics and they were not about to have it happen again. Though, around 15 or so Ruffians lost their lives due to it. Ma Chao watched as his three siege weapons of death and destruction let loose their fiery boulders. One by one they crashed into the city, two of them hitting the walls and the other went soaring into the market district. People inside yelled and screamed for help from the Glory troops as their shops were going up in flames. An old man was crushed by the initial impact and all that remained was a burned action figure in his decrepit hand. One would have thought the figure was the most popular on the market, the Zhang He, but no.......it was Yuan Shao! People cried as they picked up pieces of the old guy and his Yuan Shao action figure. He even went so far as to use his weekly farming income to purchase the attachable flask to Benchu's hand. It was the deluxe model with kung-fu grip action, enabling the northern lord to sip his brew while defending the land. Yan Xing and Cheng Yi were set up behind Ma Chao's main unit of elites. The two were formidable in combat and the bulk of Horde soldiers were with them. As soon as the gate or walls crumbled they would rush the enemy with no mercy. Either that or they would move to scale the city walls, enabling them to fight their way to the center of Chang An. The siege towers would be to the walls soon enough and they could tell because arrows were beginning to race toward the city ramparts! Ma Chao looked to his left and could see Tiny becoming anxious. He knew that the enemy must be near the river trying to flank or escape so he ordered his elites to follow. Cheng Yi moved out as well, issuing 100 militia spears to follow as he gave chase to Mengqi. Yan Xing shook his head and took up command of the main army, he just hoped his young leader would not do anything foolish so soon. Cheng Yi and Tiny were with him though, so there was nothing to fear. Still, he ordered 100 militia cavalry to aid them just in case. "My lord, please act with caution" Yi stated, arriving on his steed behind Ma Chao. Tiny pulled his mammoth horse next to the leader as well and wondered when it was time to eat. If one looked close enough, under the largeness of Tiny, they would see that his ride was actually two horses duct taped together! One was not big enough to hold him, so they needed two to carry him. A chariot like Dong Zhuo's was thought of, but the wheels kept blowing off the frame! The group halted near the river with a clear view to the forest which was far in the distance. Another gate to the city was there and enemy cavalry were fleeing from the battle! "Cowards, they already turn to flee!" Mengqi barked, turning to his elites to spur them on. The unit cheered and raised their weapons, but they would not be the ones to give chase. "Tiny, Cheng Yi, move along the river and slay anyone in your path!"The two generals nodded and were dispatched with 654 soldiers, 100 militia spears, 100 militia lancers, and 454 twin axes. They would wreak havoc upon Huang Zhong and whatever enemy cowards were in the vicinity. Ma Chao could see Han Sui's unit advancing slowly ahead in the center. The siege weapons were being prepared for another attack and there was no doubt the defenders were sorry they had angered the Golden Horde. The civilians did not know the attack was inevitable, but for any who knew Mengqi and the power he possessed would have seen it coming a mile away. The young horse lord gripped his spear tightly, thinking of the moment that he would thrust it through Wei Yan's heart! ************************* Updates.......The gate and walls of Chang An are under heavy attack from Golden Horde siege weaponry!

Post by Sun Liao on Aug 10, 2008 22:35:25 GMT -5
(Have to revert a little back but I'll catch up in the post. Sorry been working all weekend).
Sun finds himself in the city of Chang An, coming from the north and making his way over the river to the eastern most gate. As he makes his way northward in the city he watches as people flee and begin to cower. The low rumbling grows louder, and it's obviously not thunder. As he and his men continue moving north in the city people begin to run back away from the northwestern gate and wall and Sun smiles.
"They are here."
Sun motions to his men to follow as they turn onto a street and find themselves staring at the wall. There men of glory are all lined up and silent. Some are seen puking and others silently shedding tears in the face of their odds. This I have to see. Sun runs up the stairs to the top of the walls and there he looks out, and heaven behold the horizon was covered in golden banners. The thunderous noise becomes louder and louder as the golden banners spread across the countryside. So this is to be the battle against Ma Chao and the famed Golden Horde. So be it, I expected more. The funny thing is, Sun still expects more to come. But the first step of this battle is to survive the initial onslaught until help arrives.
Sun calls his men up to the walls, yelling out orders,
"Swordmen stand at the walls at ready shields just above your own head, but still covering your body, archers, I want one behind each swordsman and firing at the men on the towers. We mustn't let them get the advantage of height, we have to keep shooting at them. Make them fear approaching the walls. Halberd men I need you reinforcing the gate, it appears they have a ram, and we must not let the gate fall, they can hit the walls all they want but they will have to utterly destroy them to get that cavalry through. The gate they simply need to break it down to run us through. The remaining archers stay on the gates, I will fetch fire and look for oil to drop on the ram, do not let the ram take down the gates, A trebuchet will need a well placed shot to destroy the gate cleanly enough to force a cavalry of that size in. We can do this, don't give them the ground battle they want yet, keep the defenses strong!"
The men begin doing what they're told as Sun runs to Wei Yan.
"Lord Wei Yan, I have come to assist you from Jin Yang on behalf of my cousin Sun Yuan Ci and the Kingdom of T'se. With this victory our two proud kingdoms will bring the north to peace, and eliminate this "honorable traitor" from out country. Any man who allies with foreign barbarians does not have this countries best interest at heart, we will not be overrun by his Horde of fools. And also, oil is needed, and we need to create a fire, we might be able to burn down these towers with oil. Call out to the city for all lamp oil and any other oil you have, we mustn't let them overrun the walls. Also if possible get hay or straw, anything that will burn quickly."
Sun walks off without a reply, the heat of the incoming battle raging in his veins. Sun was nervous yes, but excitement is a better word for it. Despite his dislike for war and death, nothing excites him more then the impossible odds against him. But if the cards are played correctly in this battle then hopefully they can hold off long enough for reinforcements. Sun motions for his halberd men to start creating fires on the walls, and hoping Wei Yan was able to get at least some oil. As time went on Sun made his way to the walls, just then arrows started to fly at them from the towers, and stones came hurtling by from the trebuchets. This was it, the battle has begun. Watching as the cavalry flees from the side, Sun takes no notice, they were no use right now anyways. The battle at hand was a siege battle, and thats what Sun intended to give to them. As the towers approached Sun's men began to fire, taking cover behind the shields as arrows came back, Sun himself drew and arrow and unleashed it on a man in the tower. And yet another one. At this rate it would take hours to clear those towers with arrows, but that was not his intention.
Sun looked to the fires and back down hoping oil would arrive shortly, but just then hears a cry near the east gate. Huang Zhong had arrived, fifty bowmen at his command. This was good, uplifting for the troubled men. Sun ducks as an arrow comes flying towards him, and stands up shooting another arrow at the tower. Then yelling at the men on the walls,
"Stand fast men of T'se and Glory! We are the last line of defense for the people inside these walls and for your families, DO NOT let them fall to the unrighteous spear of Ma Chao! If Ma Chao were noble and righteous he would have let your families leave in peace for this battle!" Sun ducks quickly as an arrow whizzes by and he continues again. "Yet this man so filled with Justice lays waste to their homes while they cower in fear inside of them! Do not let this so called "War God" trounce on you! He is not a proven warrior, though I deny him not skill for a moment, but greater warriors come on the eve. Warriors such as Cao Cao, Zhou Tai, Xiahou Dun, and the famed cavalry of Gongsun Zan, with the old general at the head. Even my lord Sun Yuan Ci, the mightiest warrior in this land comes to meet this Ma Chao upstart and show him true justice!" Sun dodges another arrow, "This my friends will be a battle to remember, and we are the ones on the front line. We are the ones here fighting the fresh and eager hordes of enemies, and we hold this city not for strategic positioning, not for wealth or greed, but for the love of the people and our lands! Do not disappoint your countrymen and your rulers! We have come here as allies and if the gods will it then we will die here as brothers in arms! Do not lose hope! Fight!"
At this the men cheer, men of both T'se and Glory. They must hold on now and they know it, if they are to fall then the coalition will have a hard time winning this battle. The city must hold, or all is lost.
*Summary* -Sun has made his way to the Northwestern wall with his men where they have set up and begun firing on the tower men. - The Halberd men make fires on the walls for later use and go to defend the gate. - Sun Liao asks Wei Yan to retrieve oil and then delivers a mighty speech to rally the defenders to hold.

"They've came. Sun Liao and Sun Yuan Ci, the whole of T'se has came! Rai, ready you and half the swordsmen retrieve the fish oil from the supplies, spearmen, you're with me!" boomed Wei Yan as his own personal moral was restored by the coming of his friend, Sun Liao. Though, it was soon to be shattered again.
A boulder, a flaming boulder overshot the wall and crashed upon a man. An innocent man laid burning and dead under a rock. The warrior's heartstrings were pulled to the max before snapping. Spear in hand, he led 200 of his elite spearmen to the walls to stop the advance of the seige tower inhabitants. The remaining 300 prepared three row phalanx wall before the gate.
"Sun Liao! It's good to fight along side you again, sadly it's not the best of battles..." called the warrior as he lined up infront of one of the openings alone. His men spread out, but it was clear that a focused rage gripped him now as the men from within the tower rushed out. Spear ripped through man and shield alike. Attempts were made to block the blade, but they all failed. Stomachs, throats, shoulders, hearts, thighs, they all felt the wrath of Horizon, the able spear of Wei Yan!
"For Glory!" boomed the lines of spearmen almost as an answer to the roars that were coming from the ranks of Ma Chao. Needless to say it was a grand sight to see your own Leader, neck deep, alone, before a rushing group of men and winning! Though one man's victory was not enough. The walls were crumbling, the gate would soon be devoured by the ram, and the people were frantic. What was a leader to do? He could retreat and be thought the coward. He could fight and be thought the fool. Or he could die and lose worry of it all. No that last one was not an option.
A moral dilema was wrapping the warrior as he heard a call that was far more uplifting than any ally could possibly imagine to be, Lu Rai. "Yan! Yan! The oil is here we await commands!"
It was that simple bit of knowledge that sent a sigh of relief from Wei Yan's lips and only gave him the strength to make a choice. His spear drew blood and a final gasp from a man's throat as it dug into an enemy color. The once golden color's of his clothes now bronzed and rust colored from blood.
"Rai! You're with me! You swordsmen, gather the people and evacuate immediately! Head towards the the gate! Sun Yuan Ci is out there somewhere, find his camp and make sure the people are safe. You speak with my voice, you will not be denied. Hurry!" roared the warrior before sending a stern kick to a man's gut sending him over the edge of the city walls.
The command was simple enough, and Lu Rai was the first to react. His shield drawn and his shortsword brandished, the warrior made his way up the steps. The few enemies that had broke by found solice in the afterlife. It wasn't long that Rai was beside his friend, and the two were decimating any who dared mount the walls of Chang An.
Everything was failing all around the two warriors, the walls were crumbling, the army was marching, and the tides of enemies seemed endless, but above all the people were in complete panic. Just as all seemed lost, another plan fell into place. Horsebowmen were seen riding quickly in from the west, vollies were sent inaccurately for a moment, but soon the men were ontop of their enemy. Arrow's were sent at point blank range in rotation. Fifty would fire, then another fifty, then another, and they continued to rotate. Constant fire rained down upon the enemies around the covered ram. The horsebow's main target, men moving the ram. Once they made it cleanly out the other side, the remaining swooped back through for another pass.
"Haha! Lu Rai you were right! Horses weren't even noticed there! Glory! War cry!" roared the warrior was he brought another enemy to their death with his spear. A resounding bellow replied.
"For Glory!!" boomed not only Lu Rai, but the ranks of all able Glory warriors. The horsebowmen were even heard roaring it into the faces of the enemy. Above all things, morale had to stay up or the fight was lost without a fight at all.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Lu Rai retrieves fish oil for Sun Liao. Wei Yan and 200 spearmen take to the walls to defend against the Seige Towers, while the remaining spears set up a phalanx before the gate, waiting. Swordsmen are sent to round up all able Citizens of Chang An and send them towards the far gate.
*In-Battle Post* Sun Liao sees his fellow commander take head at the approaching towers, leading his men in the bloodshed. Sun takes heart and makes his way toward the battle on the wall squeezing through men with spears as stones continue to rain down on the walls and the buildings behind them. Sun finally makes his way toward Yan, seeing the men charging onto the walls Sun draws an arrow and releases piercing a man through the neck. Sun then puts his bow on his back and unsheathes his sword charging into the fray of men. Slashing Sun looks up to see Wei Yan no more then ten paces away. "Wei Yan, it seems we only get to see one another in battle. One day we will drink together in times of peace. But first it looks like we have to survive this."
Huang Zhong grimly observed the small army approaching him. It numbered around 650 soldiers, far out numbering his own army. Upon closer inspection, however, he took heart. These were merely militia men, men who had seen little, maybe no combat at all. It did not let him off the hook, but it did mean that his bowmen would be able to hit their targets much easier, as they were not experienced in dodging arrows. Another factor at play were the leading generals: if they could be slain, then the small army charging towards him would turn and flee for the hills. Sheathing his sword, Huang Zhong drew the bow he was legendary for using and nocked an arrow.
"Bowmen! The enemy are large in number, but few in years, their fighting spirit weak! Before they reach us, they will have known to fear and respect our adeptness with a bow! For three ranks, fifteen men in each rank, and get ready! I want a continues stream of volleys! One rank fires, the next rank fires while the first re-nocks his arrows! We will make them fall like wheat during the harvest season!"
The bowmen did as they were told, forming these ranks within seconds, such was their organization and discipline. Drawing their arrows and taking aim, they waited for their generals command. The old veteran waited for the first group of enemies to get within range. He wanted to maximize the damage he could do without wasting arrows. Hopefully, they killed a reasonable amount of men before the enemy reached their position, and reinforcements would save him. Once they were within range, Huang Zhong gave the order.
"FIRE!"
The first rank of archers let loose, their aim straight and true. Some of the charging enemy fell to the ground dead, an arrow in their throat eye, or heart. Since horses are fastest, the lancers were out in front, and were thus the main focus of the archer's aim. Then the second rank fired, the results much the same. By the time the third rank fired, the first rank was already aiming t shoot once more. Huang Zhong himself had let loose his own arrow, killing an enemy soldier by hitting him square between the eyes.
Drums and such could be heard all through the field of battle. Flags where raised high inside the Glory Kingdom City, raised on four points of the corners of the city, high enough so that Chao and his troops could see them. It was a very bueatifull day, the lord bless the soldeirs with a great day for battle, but hopfully there will be rain to wash the blood from the battlefield which the grass will be soaked in, in about 3-4 hours from now. Meng and his men mad alot of preperation for the battle, and thi was it, theres no tomarrow if Meng Doesnt preform his best in this battle, not only his Lord would die but he would, and possibly a very painfull death at that one, knowing Ma Chao doesnt show much mercy to his friends really nor his enemies. The enemy lines where great, and Chao was at the head of the blade with his fellow generals waiting for his commands Mounted on his brown steed Meng sat there, dead silent thinking of the more bloodshed to come on this bueatifull land, thouhg it cant be helped. Ma Chao's aregression may lead to his downfall, not knowing ifs its today or in the near future, but his fate would soon end in a bloody death dealt to him and his men. Meng knew Chao most likely getting assistance from the other armies around the land, and thats perfectly fine to Meng. The more troops the more Meng can increase in his killing talents, hopfully its a general willing to give his life for the cause, though it would be a pointless death considering the circumstances. Meng's main objectives now was to be on the defensive point of the battlefield, as he was on the offense so many times in his life. Looking forward to the open city gates his eyes squinted to see the many men under the comman of Wei Yan's and just waiting to strike as the enemy came closer, just to show the might of the Glory Kingdom, with his spear held tightly in his right hand, and with his men in back of him waiting to shed blood on the field he ointed foward and they left the city, onto the battle, but as they reached the grass there where towards the back of everyone else just waiting for there turn to strike the enemy or if there lord gave them a command.. Meng's Troops 50 Elite Crossbowmen 50 Elite Horsemen (Swords&Sheilds) 50 Veteran Macemen 150 Veteran Spearmen(Sheilds) 200 Elite Twin Swordsmen ((Poopy post aswell ))
In-Battle Post The battle was raging, men were dying left and right, and still the Lord of Chang An refused to surrender his city to the Lordling of Xi Liang. Hope was fading quickly though as it seemed not a single officer of Glory would be showing their faces during this battle. Aja Jex had reported in, this was true, but he'd yet to enter into the battle, and word hadn't even been said of where Lu Meng was, until now. "Yan! Lu Meng arrives! Another man to our cause!" boomed Lu Rai as he sent an enemy rocketing from the top of the wall, his shield bash becoming the very presence of doom. Wei Yan just looked back, catching a small glance of the warrior wrapped in crimson and black. "Glory! War Cry!"The answer was beyond uprising again. The birth of yet another ally in this battle seemed to be doing it's job rather well. The echo began to shake the foundation of some homes. Not only was there a cry, but there was a resounding echo of shield's being slammed together. "For Glory!"~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The horsebowmen in the field were without any orders but kill all within bow range, but they weren't without their morals. It was in seeing a man seemingly allied with Glory that they changed their war game. A head bowmen sent out the call, while other fell into a wedge. "Bows! To the old man's aid!" commanded a horsebowmen who'd proclaimed himself pack leader. The remaining horsemen broke for the old ally's unit of foot bowmen, promtly launching a volley once within accurate range at the moving army led by the monsterous man. They wouldn't charge though. No, the wedge formation was merely another ploy. Once they came close to the lines, directions were changed and the rode back towards the old warrior, sending another volley to the side, back into the enemy ranks. "You there! Ally of Glory! Retreat to the gate, you can not win this!" boomed the leader of the pack as he came to an abrupt stop beside the warrior, quickly dismounting. "Take my horse and we'll see to it that these men are aided..."It wasn't long into the words that the horses began to run a revolving line infront of the allied bowmen, sending wicked arrows into the enemy. Once the enemy came into range, they'd break off and return back to harassing the front lines of the Golden Horde, hopefully allowing the bowmen proper time to retreat to safety.
Horde Center Arrows pelted the sides of the siege towers as they moved forward slowly to Chang An's precious walls. The mammoth objects spat their own projectiles and from the open top arrows were sent back in return toward the enemy. The Kingdom of Glory was blessed to now have Sun Liao defending with his brave soldiers, but they were few in number. What the unsung hero of the Dong Zhuo battle could do though, was provide time for the city's inhabitants to flee. The problem was, the eastern side of the city near the river was about to be overrun by the Golden Horde! Huang Zhong was there, doing what he could with his small group of bows but it would not be enough. "Prepare for melee combat!" a captain yelled, obviously the leader of the assault group in one of the towers. His archers were ready to unleash an attack upon the defenders and then try and break onto the walls. Unfortunately for them, they only had small daggers to fight with until some infantry could offer support. It was like bringing a butter knife to a spear fight! Below the large moving structures were oceans of anxious soldiers and they would move to whichever entry was opened first. The towers were about to the wall, but the siege ram was also only a short distance from the gate. "Put your backs into it!" The soldiers pushing the covered ram were struggling due to the immense weight and arrows from the enemy, but they wanted that gate open so the true battle could begin. Thoughts of slaying enemy soldiers of the Glory army made them forget their initial fears of being attacked from the walls. They had a job to do though, so there was no backing down; not even if melting to death. As soon as it was in position, the siege ram started to smash the main gate to Chang An! The sound would pierce the souls of the people inside causing their morale to crumble. Soldiers from the siege towers were continuously streaming from the top to the ground as arrows caught them. Finally though, they were at the walls. "Now, take them........" the same captain from before uttered before his life was ended by Wei Yan's own blade! Daggers were unsheathed, but not very effective against the defenders upon the walls. Still, any area they had to let arrows go they did so with better accuracy due to the shorter distance. On the ground soldiers could hear the combat above as well as the ram smashing away, so they moved to the towers to aid their allies. "Bowmen, move to attack that harrassing group of cavalry!" Yan Xing ordered, sending 500 archers to send volleys at Wei Yan's horsebows who had moved to engage the Horde ram. They were fast and agile but would have to keep back if hundreds of arrows were raining down upon them. If they continued to aggravate the siege operators cavalry would be sent to counter them. Horde Left - PWN Festival Along the river, Ma Chao's two generals were making haste toward Huang Zhong and his bow troops. Cheng Yi and Tiny were not aware that the enemy soldiers were elite in status, but when their soldiers started dropping one by one they figured it out. "Cavalry, with me closer to the river! Tiny, get that old bastard!" Yi yelled, taking the riders with him further toward the water and ordering the big man to finish off Zhong. Tiny would move ahead to engage the enemy head on while Cheng Yi would move around to flank or pincer. A trail of dead bodies was like the yellow brick road for Tiny and his axes as horses along with spear men were scattered in front of them. Still, they moved forward through the arrows which luckily were minimal in number. If Huang Zhong had hundreds of archers the outcome could have been different. Unfortunately, for the Tse kingdom warrior, the situation looked grim. "You!" Tiny pointed to his foe as his duct taped horses neighed and panted heavily from exhaustion. He was going to dismount, but it took a few minutes so we will cut to some soldier fighting............ "Ha ha, this is the Golden Horde not the Golden Girls grandpa! Wrong channel, but time to die!" a soldier yelled, making some bizarre references that Huang Zhong would probably not understand. Sheesh, kids these days. Spears and axes were rushing toward the ally's line who only had missile troops. They had small weapons for hand to hand combat but even great soldiers could not win without the right equipment. Tiny finally got off from his horse, which had died a second later, and he started to walk toward the enemy. The slow walk started to turn into a jog and then into a.......run? Okay, well not really a run but he was picking up speed! "Toot! Toot!" he yelled, acting as if a freight train ready to plow through some unlucky person on the tracks. He lowered his shoulder, a very big shoulder at that, and laid waste to a few allied men who were in the way. Being struck by an arrow, in his beefy leg, was hardly a scratch to him and actually made him more angry. Two soldiers were picked up by their throats at the same time and then their heads were mashed together! Tiny was on a rampage! However, just as Huang Zhong's situation was looking dire the eastern gates to Chang An opened! Soldiers under the command of Lu Rai had appeared, but it was not known if they had realized Golden Horde troops were present giving battle against Huang Zhong. To their despair, civilians were with them and the Glory soldiers were an escort force! Still, they moved out like bees defending their nest and the queen! Weapons clashed in great number, sending shockwaves throughout the area as metal connected with metal but also with flesh and bone. The resulting carnage was not for the weak hearted as blood was flowing across the ground like the Chang Jiang. Unfortunately, for the allies, Cheng Yi had wheeled around and was heading for the flank of Huang Zhong as well as Lu Rai! ****************************** Updates............The siege towers have reached the walls and melee combat has begun!
Word came quickly to the ears of battling Wei Yan. It wasn't a runner, no, that would never have survived up here. It was a roaming roar of news. "Wei Yan! Lord Yan! Lu Rai and the swordsmen of exited the East Gate with the citizens!"It was disheartening and honest thing that had to be done. The warrior took a moment inside his own thoughts to try and justify everything that he was about to do. It seemed almost impossible to do within his own morals, but it was for the people. That was the reason he kept telling himself. Above all things, this is for the people. They must be saved, if that means defying all my morals, it must be done, thought the warrior as he gutted another oncoming enemy soldier. "Sun Liao! Break to defend the citizens at the East Gate. Chang An is lost! We fall to their aid now and hope your cousin is prepared at Qi Ning Pass! Now Go!" boomed the warrior as he kicked another enemy from the wall. His spearmen were already reacting to the indirect order they'd been given. Slowly they held the line as they retained their position. But, Wei Yan had another plan first. "You there! Remaining spears on the ground! To the East Gate! The people are to be defended with your lives!" commaned Wei Yan and the reply was quick and simple. Spears slammed into the ground while shields bashed together. The three hundred remaining spearmen on the ground moved instantly towards the east gate to aid Lu Rai and his two hundred swordsmen. "The rest of you. Light the seige towers with the fish oil. Sun Liao's flame should do nicely! Burn it all!" roared the warrior, sending his own barrel of fish oil back into the seige tower, taking an enemy with it. After that, a torch was sent trailing behind it. It wouldn't take long for the tower to be up in flames. With that, it was time to make leave. The spearmen did as they were told. Sending barrels of fish oil along with flaming torches into the seige towers before retreating down to the ground. Now, they had only the people on their mind. "My friend, Sun Liao! Abandon the city! Lives are more important than stone!" yelled the warrior again, just to make sure his ally had heard him. After that, the whole of Wei Yan and his remaining spears moved towards the east gate. It wouldn't be a long run for the adrenalized warriors. Oh no... But Yan would have wished it was. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The Ruler of Chang An had been moving as fast as he possible could when he came to see the horror that unfolded at the east gate. It was a thought that would forever haunt his mind. It was something that could only be righted with blood. In the distance the warrior spotted his companion Lu Rai, and the few stray arrows that were coming towards a group of peasants. Thankfully, Rai spotted the arrows as well. So the shield'sman moved to intercept, and he promptly did. The arrows struck shield, shield, shield, and then.. thigh! The peasents broke for safety while Lu Rai fell to a knee. The final stray arrow struck his collar, but the shield'sman was not done yet. Wei Yan, stricken by rage and grief, roared forward, almost charging his companion, but it was too late. Lu Rai looked up at his friend, gave that stern smile he'd always used in time of desperation and charged off towards the eastern group of Horde. In a matter of minutes he was upon a group of twin axes, flailing his shield and shortsword around like a man possessed, but it didn't matter. Too many enemies and too many wounds overcame him, and within moments the warrior was dead, and trampled underfoot... The warrior of Chang An, stopped, almost dead still outside the east gate. His body ran cold, his spear fell to the ground, and his thoughts cleared away. Looking back to the people Lu Rai had died defending, a hate gripped the warrior, but it wasn't for the people.. no, not entirely. The warrior picked up his spear, pointed towards the pass and said a quick vow in his head. Fate... You have played a cruel hand and it has bested me, but let it be known now before all heavens, that Ma Chao will die by my blade and my blade only!, thought the warrior, a rage entangling him that he'd never felt before. It was the peak of perfected anger, and it was let loose in a roar that would undoubtedly be heard by the Horse Lord of Xi Liang. "MA CHAO!!!!"~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Wei Yan and all his troops abandon Chang An. Moving to the east gate to aid the people in fleeing to Qi Ning Pass.
LU RAI HAS FALLEN!
Another Gladiator Song!The battle rages on, men storming the walls from the siege towers, loud battering coming from the gates, Huang Zhong apparently in distress in the east. All was collapsing against these overwhelming numbers. What is a general to do in these conditions but squeeze out what he can. If only he had more men, this city could be saved. Twenty archers are not enough to save this city.
Sun hears in the distance "Yan! Yan! The oil is here we await commands!"So at last, Sun has one plan, it will not only hurt the enemy but also buy time for an escape. Sun makes his way out of the fray on the walls and signals for a container of oil on the walls. Dodging arrows as the men stumble up the stairs, a container of oil between two of them. They make their way to Sun Liao amid the siege and await his orders. Sun motions them to follow as he goes to the gate and there has his archers dip their arrows into the oil, and his own. They then dump the oil over the side onto the battering ram and the men surrounding it. "Go get another container of oil, but save enough for one more fire!"The two men scatter to get more oil while Sun looks down at the ram. "You men, await my order to light your arrows, I will return to give the order soon." At this Sun runs down the stairs and to the gate where his halberd men were trying to hold the gate against the ram. "I need half of you to come with me! The other half remain here and hold the gate as long as you can!"Sun moves into the city, halberd men behind him, they make their way into the city, running past abandoned homes and dead civillians. The buildings burn to the ground as they run past, finding wood not burning is hard, but doable. Houses are ran into and tables and chairs are broken, men picking up all they can, piling wood on top of larger flat pieces and being dragged. At last all the men have more wood then they can practically carry, rushing their ways back to the walls a cry is heard under burning wood. "Help! Please, help!" Sun drops his wood and runs to the burning wood, kicking it aside and pushing a large piece off, Sun looks down and sees a woman, no older then twenty-five under the fire. Her face black from the fire, her legs broken. "Damnit! I can't just leave her here! Men take those to the gate, I shall meet you there."Sun knowing that if left there she could easily be crushed or worse taken by the horde, and god knows what, there was only one alternative. Sun bent over and picked her up, draping her over his shoulder her begins to run towards the eastern gate. He knows that Lu Rai is there at this moment escorting civilians out of the city. That is where Sun must take her. The further east he runs, the more people he begins to see leaving the city, how sad. These people have to abandon there homes in fear that they will be killed if they stay, yet they face the same problem outside these city walls, but what is a ruler to do, the city is clearly lost, and the people have no alternative.Sun continues running until he reaches a family with a horse, they sit in a cart of sorts and Sun runs up to stop them,"Please stop! You must take this young woman, her legs are broken, if left behind she will die!" The cart stops, an elderly man exits the cart and walks up to Sun. "I will take her, load her quickly, the longer this takes, the more likely we will all die!"At this Sun rushes to the cart and gently places her onto it. He nods to the old man as he takes to the front, his family cowering in the back of the cart, and the cart begins to ride away. The woman opens her eyes to see Sun Liao standing there, watching as the cart went towards the eastern gate, near the back of the group. But Sun catches himself and knows much must be done! He runs for the walls. Passing a stable full of panicking horses Sun grabs one and mounts it unsaddled and rides it full speed to the walls through the city, turning corners sharply and running around burnt buildings Sun makes his way to the gate. Arriving he finds his men putting the wood down inside the gate, and the men with oil looking confusedly for Sun Liao."Dump the oil on the wood! men, move back from the gates!" The remaining halberd men move away from the gates while oil is dumped onto the wood. The gate is consistently battered whole beginning to become visible in the gate. Sun looks at Wei Yan, now beginning to fall back.Might as Well Put Another Song "Sun Liao! Break to defend the citizens at the East Gate. Chang An is lost! We fall to their aid now and hope your cousin is prepared at Qi Ning Pass! Now Go!" is heard across the siege, now was the time. Sun called to his archers, "Light your arrows! Fire at the siege ram and the towers! Let them burn!" The archers move to light their arrows and begin firing arrow after arrow at the ram and the towers until the fish oil caught." Sun then dismounts his horse and walks to one of the burning buildings. unsheathing an arrow he places the tip into the fire."Men, fall back to the east gate, defend the civilians!" The halberd men begin to fall back and the archers and swordsmen follow Wei Yan's men. Sun stand alone at the gate as men begin to fill the walls from the tower and the gates begins to crumble, it is near opening and men come charging towards Sun. "Hopefully this will stall their charge long enough to get the civilians out of harms way." Sun fires his arrow at the wood and oil in the gatehouse in front of the gate, and it sets on fire burning all around it including what is left of the gate. Sun mounts his horse quickly and rides as fast as he can towards the east gate. Hopefully he is not too late to escape himself.
