If anyone's interested in the olympics, or maybe wants to discuss the controversy that ahd surrounded it, then let's all talk about it here.
I must say, the Chinese sure do know how to do an opening ceremony, was pretty damn cool.

I can say it was amazing, though the English commentator was annoying. At times she got information wrong, her pronounciations were some what incorrect and some historial facts were wrong... Especially that of the Silk Road.
Though I was a little annoyed only Kong Fuzi was celebreated and now Laozi.
Plus the whole Tibet thing is being but out of control, especially by the West. Tibet has been ruled by the Chinese for more than 3000 years and become the Xizang province. If they gain independance then their laws will be void as they are using the Chinese government systems, their culture is from China and etc.
Without the Chinese, Tibet would not be the Tibet of today. It is only since China gained the Olympics that people had really been making an uproar and in the West they are merely pointing the finger so what they're doing isn't looked on.
Xinjiang province uproar? They are known for their thieves and gangs and is not the most stable of provinces. I believe they're doing it for publicity as they haven't been doing anything like this for quite some time.
But in all truth I do not think China should have gone for the olympic bid, they're not ready and they should have used the money for those in poverty; with helping the Sichuan province more.
Pollution? Well, the West is at a little blame as the UK were the first ones to place the power stations in China, with our demands they had to establish more and more power stations which caused more pollution. However, they're trying their best to try to get rid it.
Well, enough from me I see, heh.

The Opening to the Olympics was bitching.
I think China felt obligated to spend billions on the birds nest and special effects. That was one helluva opening ceremony. UK is gonna have a rough time upstaging that xD
Worth it =D.

GongGong, are you from China? Because thats a pretty Chinese attitude towards Tibet.
Just an observation.
I liked how Bush clapped for the Iraqi entrance. My step dad and I laughed a good bit at that.
And I also love how Russia Invaded Georgia on the day of the Olympics starting.

Yeah man, The Georgian Russian conflict is far more interesting than the farce that is the Olympics.
Hopefully America wont get involved in it. Russia are not likely to back down, they want to be recognised as a great power once again. This war is a way of showcasing themselves to show America, Europe and China that they are still a world power.
If America gets involved it could turn nasty...
Though I doubt they will, they are stretched militarily as it is and the American people seem to have tired of war typically now its not going well for them.

Erm..actually i thought Russia was doing this to prove they still have influence over the Balkans, don't forget they did own Georgia and they're not as recognised as they used to be. I highly doubt that the US will get involved though, they have enough enemies and Russia really doesn't give a shit about anything as for the Beijing thing - a mad chinaman killed an American relative of some american athlete..WOOT FOR CHINESE INSANITY!

Georgia isn't in the Balkans. If they wanted to prove they still have influence in the Balkans they'd invade Romania. Or something. Though I don't see how they would do that with Ukraine in the way.
As for the actual conflict, I think Bush is stupid enough to get involved. So he wants to have this image of 'Peace Keeper'. I mean Georgia is like the size of Croatia, who cares! (No offense Sven. >.>)
I mean if they have oil reserves anywhere you can bet your arse we'll get involved. Stoopid President. -_- Gonna get us fucking nuked.

GongGong, are you from China? Because thats a pretty Chinese attitude towards Tibet. Just an observation. Nope, I'm from the UK and have no form of Chinese heritage, well that I know of anyway. However Tibet wish for independance, for worship and so they can spend most of their countries money on temples..etc.. Which I think would be impossible to do nowadays, to become a sole relgious country, without law..etc. Though I would wish to do something like that, dedicated my entire life to my religion, but we can't as it has to be adapted. I was surprised when Sarah Brightman appeared on the globe, it was supposed to be Madonna I think with Jay Chou but that was obviously changed. They could be involved with the closing ceremony, which will be interesting. Do any of you plan on watching the events at all?

Wha?
Well, Free Tibet. ;D (Cause it is sooooo hard to conquer pasifists, shucks. It is like taking over Native American lands via small poxs).
And fuck China and it's brainwashing tactics on it's people, who don't even have a clue about Tianaman Square or when their school collapse in an Earthquake. China is crap, and keeps then yen down, and their people poor so that the goverment can prosper. Na na na na to all you UK chaps who only defend them to attack the US of A.
Oh, and Bush is a moron and will attack Iran and Russia at the same time. I would almost put money on it.
Mwa ha ha!!

Alright. So after catching a few glimpes of the Opening Ceremony which my mother taped... Ugh. I've gotten rather intrigued with how things will shape up in Beijing. Honestly, I'm watching now and waiting for China to do something completely off the wall.. Women's Fencing was cool though. Oh and that Phelp's guy USA's got.... He's a beast. Anyway.. That's my input.
