"Well, I suppo-" Zei Fang started, before he was cut off by a man with more ego then even Zei Fang. Apparently his name was Yuan Shao, and Zei Fang knew exactly what hurt people with egos. Zei Fang started to laugh at Yuan Shao.
"Please, old man, spare us your ignorant, useless banter." Zei Fang stated after An Bo left. As he stood, he noticed Zhou Tai coming forth from the tent, but that didn't stop him. "All you are trying to do is claim all the glory for yourself, when you are hardly worth a pig's-"
"Zei, stop. Now is not the time. Yuan, may I ask the meaning of this?" Zhou Tai said, his right hand dangerously close to his sword. He intended to know why Yuan Shao was causing a disruption within their ranks on the eve of battle. "Are you Dong Zhou's puppet sent forth to disrupt us, or are you simply drunk? Or stupid"

Lu Zhi after leaving the Command Tent had noticied that He Jin was yelling at Yuan Shao yet he could not understand why on earth the Commander would be yelling at such an esteemed Han Officer like Yuan Shao. The Yuan family had undying loyalty to the Han for Generations what on earth could have possibly made He Jin doubt Yuan Shao?
"Commander pardon me for asking but may i ask why it is you appear to be angry with Yuan Shao my lord?"

Qin Fang stood up, he could not tolerate such madness, especially from a hard head like Yuan Shao! sure he owned an army, but his lords was far greater than any that Yuan Shao could muster up. Qin motioned to his 100 troops to relax and he want right over to approach the man known as Yuan Shao, the man that thought he was above He Jin, a messily man with nothing standing in his way from dieing.
"Excuse me sir, could you keep your thoughts to yourself, i really don't think anyone cares about what you have to say, we are just here to fight the battle to its fullest and rid this tyrant from the land so that we can at least sleep at night."
He said that with full pride in his words looking at Yuan Shao, and momentarily looking at Zhang Liao, he saw that he at least was a man of strength and so he grasped his dagger which was under his cloak, you never know what crazy people like this might do to try and defend themselves from an oral attack. He also noticed that the two of them were rather close to each other, perhaps they were lovers? or maybe just nice little friends, whatever it may be he just wanted him to stop talking about lord He Jin in the manner he was already talking about him in.

The Black Knight watched as the men around him drank goblets of wine, and enjoyed the tales of the wars they had endured up to this point. But behind it all, he could not help but feel as if this facade that was being displayed was soon to be short lived.
His suspicions only became a reality when He Jin came onto the scene, his brow squashed rigidly against the pimples of his face as he barked the reasoning for Yuan Shao's pointless rants, he himself felt it was all ill-mannered. Yuan Shao was a regional lord, who had gained sufficient support by both the Han Empire and the local militias, where as He Jin was regional commander and military chieftain of this expedition. He felt the arguments to soon topple, and he lifted his tarnished body into the air, turning - watching, as the events of the evening passed him by.
He didn't say anything though, he just watched for the moment, awaiting a reaction, a response in which he could smile at later on. But nothing came, it was as if he was watching a corpse rot away into nothing but the bones that it held together. Slow, boring and painfully annoying.
And so he decided to act, he turned his cloaked body to-wards He Jin and the campfire and made his way over, he passed several generals on the way, one of them being Sun Ce, a man and figure head of the Wu empire, although he was unsure where this man's allegiance resided at present. He Jin was the final man he came to, who now waited angrily for the response that was sure to come .
"It would be unwise for this to effect the status of this expedition."
he spoke coldly, as if his voice was masked behind some hidden amusement, "This man is a cretin, as are most men when their ambitions are larger than their abilities, but you must not let his act of mutiny sway the purpose of your mission. he has friends, and he has influential power, let the man do his barking - for all dogs will pamper their master in due time."
"Instead." He paused momentarily, eying the few locals he had seen here and there in his travels, "It would probably be better to look upon the reactions of the generals, unless a standing general can dislodge the loyalty, what is there exactly to fear - he will be laughed at, and he shall return to his quarters enraged, and then - in time he may return, to seek vengeance, but then who are you, a grand commander, to be afraid of a simple regional administrator."
He enjoyed twisting the meaning of his sentence before withdrawing, sitting by the old fire that burned with a hesitant whimper, as if even the atmosphere was to be sucked up into this chaotic battle that would either unleash itself on the fields of battle, or within the minds of the generals.

"The wolf is naturally frightened by the tiger's glory," answered Zhang He from behind Yuan Shao. He brought one hand to his face as e continued, "Lord He Jin claims to represent the Han by virtue of his sister's marriage, but lineage cannot compare to the beauty of ability. When the Yellow Scarves rose up, He Jin was forced to beg assistance from the regional lords, a most unsightly decision. What's more, he lost the capital and the Emperor to Dong Zhuo. With all due respect, Commander," Junyi nodded toward He Jin, "you do not possess the ability required to elevate the Han to their former beauty." As he finished his tirade, Junyi cocked his head to the side and smiled politely.

Zei Fang snickered. "Please. A tiger? More like a domesticated cat-"
"Zei Fang, please, not now. Save your whimsical banter for later."
Zei Fang nodded. "Yes, Lord Tai."
"Thank you. ONe thing you will need to learn is to save your insults for the proper time, although I doubt it matters here. Yuan, please, save this for when people begin to take you seriously. Until then, I propose you leave this vicinity before something dire befalls you and your servant."

Lu Zhi turned to this man who claimed Yuan Shao to be so brilliant in contrast to the great Grand Commander He Jin. But Lu Zhi merely smiled.
"The call for help from the regional lords was not a move out of desperation it was merely a calling for all those that were loyal to help put down a rebellion. All ths#ose loyal which, correct me if i'm wrong, that your glorious lord Yuan Shao stayed out of. Which implies he is not loyal but traitorous and ambitious, yet worse still, supported the rebellion. You would do well to bite that tongue of yours in future before you go around claiming it to be a desperate move. Grand COmmander He Jin fights for his loyalty to the Han moreover he listens to his advisors which is the true mark of a competent leader."
He was about to turn away but he stopped and spoke one last thing.
"By the way, if he does not posses the power to restore the Han to is "beauty" then i am afraid that Yuan Shao does not either. For he too failed to go to the rescue of the Han Emperor and fight against those rebels did he not? Instead he chose to sit comfortably at home while the rest of us went to what we believed would be the fall of the turbans. If he did not come to help us against the turbans you think the least a man with his abilities could do was to rescue the Han Emperor and Empress from a tragic fate."

Zhang Liao watched the sycophants run to the defense of He Jin. It was a pathetic sight, and the vague threats did not make it any better. Sighing, he kept one hand on his halberd as he addressed the issue at hand.
"Zhou Tai, vague threats are not welcome here. If there is to be bloodshed, the nobles can agree on that and we can start stabbing things. Until then, remain civil and polite. There's no reason to stain the ground red before our upcoming battle, you know."
Grinning, Zhang Liao sat back down, watching the scene unfold.

"Eh, it's not like it would hurt us any. Quality over Quantity..." Zhou said before shrugging. Zhou Tai looked at Zei Fang. "You will be in charge of getting the troops ready, Zei. Just thought I should tell you, now that I think about it."
"huh? Oh, o.k. Yeah, sure..." Zei said as he looked at Yuan Shao. Was this noble serious? Did he actually think he could change the minds of those sitting around? Was he that naive in thinking that the loyalty these men held at the present time could be so easily shaken?

A messenger approached Qin Fang as he was standing watching the two men, he went to his ear and whispered somehing to him, something that was probably very important, because his eyes opened wider than his wifes legs last night. He smiled a bit and nodded to the man and sent him away, then turned and started slightly speaking out.
"I have just been informed that Lord Sun Jian might be coming to battle earlier than I was informed, they say he might come in a few hours if not be on his way in a few minutes!"

Sun Ce sat and listened to the words of the newest speaker. The sharp words piercing the heavy blanket of death laid about the area, and piercing into the hearts of the commanding generals.
Ce cared very little. In his eyes any man he who led the battle would be doing for himself. There was no such thing as an altruistic leader, and Ce had come to realize this all too well. Whether they flew a banner of Yuan Shao, or He Jin, they would still be fighting a futile battle. For they fought not just the armies of Dong Zhou, but the greed of man, the tyranny of evil, and the chaos of a land without law.
As Sun Ce sat at the campfire he couldnt help but catch the eyes of a man cloaked in shadow as he walked by. The man walked by with an air of power and honor about him.
I must get that man's name before this is over.
Then he went back to watching the fire and listening to the men quarrel and bicker of honor and fame, instead of focusing on tomorrow and the battle.

Zei watched Zhou Tai visibly perk up at those words, simply because it was very unexpected. Zei simply sat down, since if he got into this conflict anymore, Zhou Tai would just tell him to be quiet. "They're all stupid." Zei muttered. as he opened his flask and took a heavy draw.
He kept the flask open, because he intended on drinking the whole thing before he would go to bed and rest for the battle.

Zhao Yun watched the man before him, He Jin, the man proud in his ways, set in a sort of aristocrat style. He had been in power, or would have been in power, had his sister, the Empress not failed in her task, though of course, everyone was aware of that. However, Yun was sure that He Jin would vehemently deny this, claiming that what he was doing was for the good of China, for the good of the Han. He would try so hard to make himself look like the hero he so desperately wanted to be, even though he was perhaps as vile and power hungry as Dong Zhou. Yun, though, kept these thoughts to himself, he needed to give off the aura of self-confidence, as though he believed in what this alliance’s plans were.
However, he was quite certain He Jin had no real plans, at least, not at the moment. He had been here for a long time, and yet, was confused. He started off on his ramblings about Dong Zhou, and how pathetic he was, giving no respect to the warriors who fought under him, no regard to what the possibilities of them were. Zhao Yun was already worried he made a tragic mistake in joining the lofty band of misfits He Jin was bringing together. He spoke of crossing the river was simply a matter of touching one shore to another. Did he have boats, was he going to attack at night, was he ready for the momentous occasion that it would bring. How was he going to transport the troops and generals, how would he protect them if they came under arrow fire, or stakes that would damage the boats coming in.
Zhao Yun was about to voice these complaints when an officer came in, whispering something into He Jin’s ear. Yun’s eyebrow shot up as Jin’s face turned to a neat shade of red, anger boiling in his veins as he was tossed information he did not want to hear, and yet it still came none the less. Yun turned to look at Lu Zhi, and shook his head, however, He Jin moved towards the tent exit, almost looking as though he was ready to spit fire. Interesting indeed and Yun followed him out.
And then he heard it, Yuan Shao had been making trouble for He Jin, calling him an incompetent leader and a fool. Zhao Yun smiled slightly as he listened to the man, for he had many of the same thoughts himself, though he had not been willing to state them on the premise of trying to show a united front. Though to see it before him now, it was quite amusing, though discounting the fact that it seemed more like a childish ranting, trying to point fingers and spread false accusations, trying to destroy the Coalition before it even managed to get off the ground. How many more were trying to this, trying already to gain power for themselves, it was a common occurrence here, of that Yun was sure. How long would it be before the in fighting started, would they even be able to fight Dong Zhou before the day was through? Undoubtedly not.
Turning his eyes slightly, he watched as Zhou Tai retreated from the back drop, running off towards the campfire. To what reason, Zhao Yun could only speculate and assume, but no clear facts, and he was not sure he cared much, it was to little gain for himself, of that he was aware. However, now he was presented with the problem before him and how to deal with both Yuan Shao and He Jin, though he knew it was really none of his concern. Yet, no one here really wanted the Coalition destroyed, not yet anyways.
He watched as Zhou Tai finally turned to Yuan Shao, as Yun noted he had come to the side of his man. He bit off a retort that seemed only to be trying to inflame Shao’s anger, though whether the noble would respond to it, or simply ignore it was another matter. However, it seemed that some did side with Yuan Shao, both the general who had left Dong Zhou, Zhang Liao, and one Shao had brought with him, Zhang He. Those aligned with Sun Quan seemed more in the defense of He Jin, no doubt for if anyone was to succeed the man, it would be their own leader. Zhao Yun shook his head once again as Lu Zhi spoke as well, commenting on his own thoughts, and the man dressed to impress tried to cause confusion. It was all so, weak and dividing. Though Yuan Shao brought up a decent point.
“Yuan Shao speaks truth,” Zhao Yun started, doubting anyone would look to him about his own concerns. “Even as I listened to He Jin in the tent behind us, he was uncertain as to our move, explaining only that we are to cross the river.” He looked at He Jin, a sort of fire burning in his own eyes. “It is as though you have laid no plans for us, as though you will simply throw us against a wall and hope it breaks. And what happens when it does, Lord He Jin? Will you simply reinstate your sister and her husband to the throne? Will you just pull the strings again? Many here can see that you are just trying to reclaim power once again for yourself, and this has nothing to do with the Han.” He looked at Yuan Shao, his face growing dark.
“And then of course there is you, Lord Yuan Shao. While many here can lay claim to be power hungry, they are at least keeping it hidden for the sake of destroying Dong Zhou. And yet you come in here trying to cause division and mistrust, as though there is not already dry timbers ready to burst into flames. We need to provide a united front before the power and likes of Dong Zhou and his ilk.” He looked at both men. “As well this discussion should not be taken place before all those here and the soldiers, let us discuss this inside the tent were there is a measure of privacy, yes?” Again, he doubted he would be listened to, but at least he was trying.
He could see that the others simply wanted a fight, be it between them and Dong Zhou or Yuan Shao and He Jin. Sides had already been drawn, he could see, yet he needed to try to prevent it, or he would leave himself, even if it meant that the world would fall into the hands of that lunatic Dong Zhou. Yet, Yun was not a man to run away from his problems, he would try to stop the oncoming engagement here if he could, but who was to say that he could, indeed manage that. The world was so much smaller than one first thought.

Sitting there Sun Ce grew tired of waiting for something to come from the bickering officers. And he cared little for what was occuring. His mind resided with the man he had seen pass him by. Something about that man inspired a reaction in Ce.
Hmm well i shall go meet this man i think[/i]
Sun Ce stood up from the campfire and brushed the dirt from himself as he walked towards the man clad in black.
As he approached him he attempted to get a somewhat clearer view of his face, but the shadows of the night mixed with the garments worn by the man did more than enough to conceal his appearance.
" Hello sir, I am lord Ce of the Sun family. I was wondering if you would care to share a drink on this night of impending destruction?"

Lu Zhi turned to Zhao Yun and looked at him with the utmost anger etched on his facial features. How on earth could he accuse the Grand Commander of such thoughts? Did he not know of the rumoured death of the EMperor and Empress?
"Hold your tongue you fool. Have you no shame? How can you even think about accusing the Grand Commander of such Hidiously evil and corrupt thoughts! Even after therumours of the deaths of both his Emperor and Emperess! HOw on earth can such a deed even be thought of with such a thing going around! You call yourself an officer of the Han? pitiful fool. He Jin has had his plans as he said so in the meeting itself! it is not yourfault if you were not paying attention as you were too busy thinking about power!"
